To be honest, when I recently took this recipe down to update it, I received numerous inquiries about its whereabouts.

The Best Sugar Free Chocolate Mousse

The Best Sugar Free Chocolate Mousse

This recipe is certainly not to be confused with my Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding Cake recipe.
Not only is this recipe not a cake, it is also not pudding as well.

This chocolate mousse recipe would taste especially good with whipped cream on top of it.
You can find my recipe for homemade sugar free whipped cream here to top off your keto sugar free mousse.

I was one of many folks who who wondered what the difference is between chocolate mousse and chocolate pudding.

Chocolate pudding is what we remember being introduced to as a kid. It seems like that chocolate pudding came in a small container that all the cool kids in their lunch bag. However, on the other hand, it seems as if mousse, was something for the adults to enjoy.

However, there is a difference between this and chocolate pudding
While pudding, as we know it, is quite dense. On the other hand, chocolate mousse is ‘airier’, and thus, less dense that pudding.

This chocolate mousse recipe is made without eggs.

Instead, we will be using unflavored gelatin to hold the mousse together.
You can easily find unflavored unsweetened gelatin for this recipe online .

Also needed for this recipe is Unsweetened cocoa powder.
Please make sure that you are using Unsweetened cocoa powder. Using chocolate milk powder will not work in this recipe.

Here are some tips for making The Best Sugar Free Chocolate Mousse

I already mentioned that you will need Unsweetened cocoa powder. Using chocolate milk powder will not work in this recipe.

Here are some more tips for making your sugar free chocolate mousse.

  1. I originally posted this recipe with using Greek Yogurt in it. However, you can use whipped cream such as my homemade sugar free whipped cream instead.
  2. This recipe calls for Vanilla Extract. However, you can feel free to sub in another extract such as maple extract or banana extract instead.
  3. Cover the mousse with plastic wrap or a similar wrap before you place it into the refrigerator to prevent a layer from forming on the top.

Chocolate mousse is often associated with Dutch Process Cocoa, which is different from the unsweetened cocoa powder.

Dutch Process Cocoa reacts better when combined with warm milk due to its acidity. One ‘compromise’ alternative to using Dutch Process Cocoa is to use a half Dutch and half regular unsweetened cocoa powder such as this one.

I love chocolate pudding and chocolate mousse ( you have mouse on title of recipe). Mostly I like it best when the pudding is still warm. Thanks for the sugar free recipe as my son is diabetic and loves so many things with sugar in them.,I know he will like this.
