How to Roast Chickpeas
Chickpeas are the perfect salty and crunchy snack when you are looking for something healthy to snack on.
I like that that chickpeas can be seasoned according to what taste that you may be craving for at the moment.
I must say that there are a lot of diets that are chickpea friendly too.
They are low in fat, carbohydrates and they even have a bit of protein in them.
That makes chickpeas especially friendly to vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, and Mediterranean diets!
Chickpeas are also known by other names.
Most notably, chickpeas are also known as garbanzo beans. However, other names for the chickpeas include 'gram' and also Egyptian pea.
You may also know that chickpeas are member of the legume family.
Legumes are the mature seeds from plants. Beans, lentils, and peas are other example of legumes.
For this recipe, I am suggesting that you use canned chickpeas.
When you look for canned chickpeas, also look for canned garbanzo beans.
These beans have different names, as mentioned earlier, and their name on the label may vary as a result.
Look for a can of chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, that is between 15 and 16 ounces for this recipe.

You will need to prepare your Chickpeas before you make this recipe.
Do not worry as this is an easy kind of preparation to make. We need to dry the beans before we can use them in this recipe.
The easiest way to dry the chickpeas is to use a towel.
A clean dish towel will work as will a good paper towel. Simply use the towel to blot the beans dry. If blotting does not seem to work for you I suggest placing the beans between two towels and rolling or pressing them dry.
There is a tendency for folks to oil and season their chickpeas before they go into the oven.
However, doing so can cause your recipe to not turn out so great. I suggest roasting the chickpeas on the oven and then tossing them in your seasoning when you take them out.
Here are a couple more tips for you when you make your tasty roasted chickpeas.
I like to prep my pan with parchment paper because it is both easier to clean and helps with transferring the chickpeas.
Also, do not forget to stir the chickpeas while they are roasting and also, keep an eye on them to prevent any burning. Lastly, eat your roasted chickpeas as soon as possible as they tend to lose their crispiness quickly.
Rather than suggest a specific seasoning for you to use in this recipe, I will give you a few suggestions.
This is a personal preference however, I would recommend cumin, Old Bay Seasoning, Paprika or even a taco seasoning.
