Homemade Herb Crackers

A really easy way to make a delicious cracker for your next gather or snack.
Prep Time15 minutes
Cook Time18 minutes
Total Time33 minutes

Ingredients

  • Flour- 3 cups see post for possible alternatives.
  • Sugar or alternative- 3 teaspoons.
  • Kosher salt- 1 teaspoon can use other kind of salt too.
  • Olive Oil- 4 tablespoons.
  • Water- 1 cup.
  • Seasonings- see post for options. The seasonings will be used as a topping thus the amount will really be as desired.
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  • While you work, preheat your oven to 425. Have a rimmed baking sheet ready to use.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine together your flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Blend in your olive oil and half of the water to the mixing bowl. As the dough mixes, continue to add your remaining water a bit at a time as you do not want the dough to be too wet. I use a dough hook on my mixer.
  • When the dough is ready, roll it out on a piece of parchment paper that is big enough to transport to the baking sheet for baking. Therefore, you will want that paper to be slightly larger than the baking sheet. Make sure that your parchment paper is on a flat surface as you will be rolling out the dough on that paper.
  • Roll the dough out to about ⅛-1/4 thickness on your parchment paper. If needed, sprinkle with a small amount of additional flour as needed.
  • When the dough has been rolled out, cut out the crackers-to-be, taking care to separate the pieces well. To cut the crackers, you can use a large knife, cookie cutter, or even a pasta cutter to do this. Then sprinkle your seasonings on top.
  • Lastly, bake your crackers for 15-18 minutes or until the crackers begin to brown.
  • Serve your with cheese if desired as well.
