  • In a large saucepan over medium to high heat, combine the apples, water, and lemon juice . Bring the mixture to a boil and then set the heat to low and cover with a lid to simmer. It should take about 10-15 minutes for your apples to become soft.

  • Once your apples are soft you can remove the applesauce from the heat. Stir in the remaining ingredients adding additional as needed.
    Tip: If your apple sauce is too chunky for your tastes, you can puree it through a food processor or strong blender (may have to do batches). Another option is to use a potato masher to mash it down.

  • Store your applesauce in a closed container, such as a canning jar , for up to a week in the refrigerator.

As mentioned, the apples used in this recipe should be peeled, cored, and cut up. You can make this process easier by using an apple peeler as well as an apple corer slicer to do this.
Also mentioned was that adding seasonings can really make this applesauce taste better and be more 'fall-like".
I like ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or even apple pie spice.
