This Sugar Free Chocolate Banana Bread can be eaten any time during the day.
While it could be the perfect breakfast bread, this Sugar Free Chocolate Banana Bread can also work as a dessert or snack idea.
Sugar Free Chocolate Banana Bread
As yummy as this bread may seem to be, half of the enjoyment is the smell when it is baking in oven.
Any time that you smell bread baking in the oven, you probably enjoy the wonderful aroma. However, when you add a bit of chocolate to that aroma it gets even better.
There are several reasons why we are adding banana to this bread.
Obviously, bananas give an added taste to whatever they are added to. However, bananas can also be used as an egg substitute, a sweetener, and a source of texture.
Bananas are natural- right off of the trees (and through the grocery store) and into our kitchens.
In this recipe we will be using bananas as a 'support' ingredient.
Bananas will be supporting the other ingredients that contribute to the taste and the texture. We will not be using bananas as a substitute and thus, removing any ingredients as a result.

The recipe fo Sugar Free Chocolate Banana Bread
This bread can be eaten alone or with a butter, cream cheese, or similar topping as well.
Please note that while we are using a sugar alternative for sweetness, this recipe is not 100% sugar free. Bananas naturally contain about 14 grams of sugar and we will be using 3 of them in this recipe.
What you will need to make this bread.
- Flour (AP)- 1 ½ cups. Make this lower carb by using Carbalose flour alternative.
- Baking Powder- 1 teaspoon.
- Baking Soda- 1 teaspoon.
- Unsweetened Cocoa- ½ cup.
- Sugar Alternative- Equivalent to 1 cup of sugar. Granular 1:1 to sugar works best in this recipe.
- Butter- ½ cup softened.
- Milk- 1 tablespoon.
- Eggs- 2.
- Vanilla Extract- 2 teaspoons
- Bananas- 3, really ripe, that have been mashed.
- Optional- 1 cup of sugar free chocolate chips.
How to make Sugar Free Chocolate Banana Bread
- Preheat your oven to 325. Prep a loaf or similar pan heavily for nonstick.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together your flour, baking powder and baking soda. Then stir in the unsweetened cocoa.
- In another bowl, cream together your sugar alternative and butter.
- Add the creamed contents from the second bowl to the mixing bowl and gently stir.
- Add the eggs to the mixing bowl one at a time, mixing slightly (do not over mix) between additions.
- Finally, blend in the bananas. I prefer doing this by hand to help preserve the texture somewhat. If you are adding the optional chocolate chips, fold those in at this time.
- Bake this for 65-70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean (which may not fully happen if you have added chocolate chips).
- Allow this bread to cool for about 10 minutes before removing and serving.
