    What you need to make Peanut Butter and Carrot Homemade Dog Treats.

    • Oat Flour You can make your own oat flour by grinding up oats (rolled old fashion work well).
    • Applesauce. Make sure that you are using plain unsweetened applesauce.
    • Peanut Butter. Use natural, unsweetened, xylitol free peanut butter.
    • Egg. At room temperature.
    • Carrots. Your carrots should be peeled and then grated.

    How to make Dog Treats made with Peanut Butter and Carrots

    • Prep Time: 10 mins .
    • Bake Time: 20 mins .
    • Servings: 10 treats, depending on the size of your cookie cutter. .

    • Notes: You will need a baking sheet, mixing bowl, rolling pin, and cookie cutter(s) to make this recipe. .

    1. Prepare. Preheat your oven to 350f and prep a baking sheet for nonstick. Parchment paper or a baking mat can work in this recipe.
    2. Mix. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the oat flour, applesauce, peanut butter and egg until thoroughly blended.
    3. Carrots. Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl and then fold in the grated carrots.
    4. Dough. Lightly dust your rolling pin and a clean workspace with oat flour. Use your hands to mold the dough that is in the mixing bowl. When you are able to shape the dough into a ball, transfer the dough to your workspace and use your rolling pin to roll the dough to about ยฝ" thick. The dough should be tacky but not too sticky while you are working with it.
    5. Shape. Use your cookie cutter(s) to cut out the cookies and place them onto your prepared baking sheet about a half an inch apart from on another.
    6. Bake. Bake the dog treats for 18-20 minutes or until edges are beginning to brown. Let the treats sit on the pan for a couple of minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to fully cool before serving.

    Tips for making the best homemade dog treats.

    The carrots in this recipe were raw carrots that were grated. If your grated carrots seem to be too wet, you can place the carrots on a few clean paper towel for a few minutes.

    1. For smoother cookies you can first cook the carrots and then puree them in a food processor.
    2. It is very important that you use ingredients that have no other ingredients added to them and that are safe for dogs to eat. This includes your natural, Xylitol free peanut butter and plain, unsweetened apple sauce free of additives.
    3. As with about any other tasty treat, these treats should be served in moderation.

    Once your dog treats have fully set and cooled, they can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, dog treats should keep for up to five days when refrigerator or longer when frozen.
