Ingredients needed to make pet cupcakes.
- Oat Flour. I like an organic oat flour for this recipe.
- Old Fashioned Oats. This helps to give the pupcakes structure and a chewy texture.
- Peanut Butter. Use a no added sugar peanut butter that does not have xylitol added to it.
- Banana A ripe banana that has been mashed.
- Coconut Oil. Your coconut oil should be melted.
- Eggs. Use room temperature eggs.
- For the frosting you will need additional creamy peanut butter along with plain Greek yogurt.

Tips for making the best frosted pupcakes.
When looking for an oat flour, I like to use 'certified gluten-free oats'. Sometimes oats can be mixed with other ingredients during processing making them not 100% gluten free.
More helpful tips for you.
- You can also make your own oat flour at home by grinding rolled oats in a good blender or food processor.
- It is essential that you use a creamy peanut butter that has no added sugar (such as natural, unsweetened peanut butter) and no added xylitol. Xylitol is toxic to dogs.
- If you want to use a substitution for the oat flour, it is best to use whole wheat flour rather than regular all purpose flour in this recipe.
- Depending on the size of your dog, you can use the cupcake pan of your choice. Not that baking times will vary.
- Allow your pupcakes to fully cool before for adding the frosting as you do not want the frosting to melt.
- Make sure that any added toppings, such as sprinkles or biscuits, are people and pet friendly (depending on who is enjoying it).
- While these pupcakes are a fun and tasty treat, it is best to limit pupcakes to one pupcake a day for a large dog and serve small dogs a smaller portion.

- Icing. In a small bowl combine together the frosting until combine. You can use a plastic zip top bag with a cut corner to top the pupcakes (or the method of your choice) just before serving .
Expert Tip ๐ Baking times can vary depending on the size of your cupcake pan. It is best to check for firmness at 12 minutes. These pupcakes do not rise as there is no leavening agent added to them.
How to store pupcakes.
Once the pupcakes have fully cooled, the unfrosted pupcakes can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, unfrosted pupcakes should keep for up to four days when refrigerated or up to four months when frozen. As mentioned, they should be frosted just before serving and not stored with the frosting on top.
