Try this great dessert idea, Sugar Free Cream Cheese Pound Cake .

I like how deliciously moist this pound cake tastes!

Sugar Free Cream Cheese Pound Cake.

You may be surprised at how great tasting this cake is.

This is because when you add cream cheese you get both a moist texture and a richer taste.

We all know that pound cake is a classic dessert.

Thankfully, there are so many ways to make one.
I like that this cake can be made both without adding sugar and by adding some cream cheese to the mixing bowl.

I love a great tasting cake that I can make myself.
Here are some ideas for Cake Baking Essentials that can make cake baking even better!

Your first question may probably be what does cream cheese pound cake taste like.

To be honest, it is not all that different in taste than a regular pound cake.
You probably would not even notice that the cream cheese is even in the cake if you had not put it into the batter yourself.

Cream cheese is added to the cake more for texture than for flavor.

That is, cream cheese is really more of a fat element than a flavor element in this recipe.
Your cream cheese pound cake will be a more dense cake as a result (which could be perfect if you are adding some sort of a sauce or liquid to the plate that you are serving it on).

There has been some discussion about what is the best pad for a pound cake.

Obviously, you should think about how you plan on serving this cake once it is made.
A pound cake is usually served with something else, such as ice cream or fruit, on the side.

I like a bundt style cake pan for this recipe.

Bundt cakes, especially this time of the year, can be easily decorated to match the occasion.
Even better, for those of us who like an easy cleanup, there are springform style bundt pans that you can find online (you are welcome!).

Here are some tips Sugar Free Cream Cheese Pound Cake

I just mentioned that using a springform style bundt pans is a great idea for this cream cheese pound cake. This style of a cake pan makes for both a great looking presentation and an easier cleanup.

Here are some more helpful tips for baking your pound cake.

    1. Because the cream cheese is added as a fat element in this recipe, it is recommended that you use a full fat cream cheese rather than low fat or cream cheese alternative. For best results, make sure that your cream cheese has been softened to room temperature as well.
    2. Pound cakes are known for their buttery flavor. Butter is an essential ingredient as it adds the flavor along with fat. I suggest that you use butter and not any alternative instead, such as margarine.
    3. This recipe calls for vanilla extract. However, subbing in another extract, such as almond extract, for part of your vanilla extract, is a nice way to balance out the flavor added by the cream cheese.
    4. When choosing a sugar alternative, for the best results, please use an alternative that is granular and that can be baked. That granulated Sugar Alternative should also measures 1:1 with sugar as well.
    5. Having your ingredients (cream cheese, eggs, and butter) softened to room temperature is essential in the success of this cake. The ingredients will mix more effectively at room temperature with the dry ingredients.

This is a great cake to make before you actually need to serve it.

To store this cake simply allow it to cool and then wrap it well in plastic or similar wrap.
You can even freeze the cake away for later (my mom use to do this all the time!).

The recipe for Sugar Free Cream Cheese Pound Cake

As mentioned, using a springform style bundt pans is a great idea for this cream cheese pound cake. This style of a cake pan makes for both a great looking presentation and an easier cleanup.

Also mentioned, because the cream cheese is added as a fat element in this recipe, it is recommended that you use a full fat cream cheese rather than low fat or cream cheese alternative.

For best results, make sure that your cream cheese has been softened to room temperature as well. Butter is an essential ingredient as it adds the flavor along with fat. I suggest that you use butter and not any alternative instead, such as margarine.

Ingredients that are needed to make this sugar free cream cheese pound cake.

    • All Purpose Flour- 3 cups. I have not made this with a low carb all purpose flour or gluten free all purpose flour.
    • Baking Powder- ½ teaspoon.
    • Butter- 1 ½ cup + 1 tablespoon softened to room temperature plus additional for prepping pan. That is three sticks plus one tablespoon.
    • Cream Cheese- 1 (8 ounce) package, softenend to room temperature.
    • Sugar Alternative- Equivalent to 2 ½ cups of sugar. Please use a granular, baking friendly, option that is 1:1 with sugar in volume.
    • Eggs- 6, also at room temperature.
    • Vanilla Extract- 1 teaspoon .
    • Almond Extract- 1 teaspoon.

How to make Sugar Free Cream Cheese Pound Cake

    • Preheat your oven to 325 and prep your pan well (nonstick plus flour dusting) for nonstick. While a pound cake is usually baked in a loaf pan, I am actually a fan of the bundt pan for this recipe.
    • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk or sift together the flour and baking powder. Set this bowl aside.
    • Next, in a large mixing bowl, and at medium speed, beat your butter with the cream cheese until creamy.
    • For the next step, we will add the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the mixing bowl. Do this by adding half of the dry ingredients at a time, stirring between additions. Then add the eggs, one at a time, stirring gently between additions as well as the extract.
    • Transfer the batter to the prepared baking pan and bake for 75- 90 minutes or until a toothpick comes out almost clean. The baking time can depend on your pan.
    • Allow this to cool well- at least 20 minutes in the pan and then an hour on a cooling rack- before serving. Thus, this cake should be well cooled prior to serving.

The sugar alternative was omitted from the instructions. Is it mixed with the butter and cream cheese, or is it considered a dry ingredient, and added in with the flour? Help!

Hi I always like to blend the alternatives with the fat (butter) before adding the dry ingredients.
        Thanks!

Hi, does this pound cake have a crunchy top or does the sugar alternative change the texture?
      Thanks

Hi. Most pound cakes seem to have a crust that is of a different texture than the inside of the cake.
However, if yours seems 'crunchy' it could be that the alternative was not suitable for baking with or some alternatives work best when blended with sugar. Check the packaging to makes sure if you have any concerns. Also, there could be other variables such as the freshness of products. thanks!
