    Homemade Sugar Free Whipped Cream

This is a simple recipe that can be easily tweaked with flavors and colors as needed.

I like that you can make this whipped cream topping using about any kind of sugar alternative including honey or maple syrup.

Did you try my recipe for Sugar Free Strawberry Icebox Cake?

That icebox cake can be made in about 20 minutes and is perfect on warm day. This homemade whipped cream topping can also be used in making that icebox cake!

To make this recipe you will need sugar free powdered sugar. You can find a selection of powdered sugar made without added sugar here.

Is whipped cream topping the same as whipped cream?

    What is whipped cream?

Also known as "Chantilly cream", whipped cream is a light and airy topping made from heavy cream. The heavy cream is whipped with air until it reaches a fluffy and creamy consistency.

Whipped cream is a versatile topping used in both sweet and savory dishes to add richness and a creamy texture. This topping is a popular with desserts (such as pies, cakes, and fruit dishes). Whipped cream can also be used to garnish hot beverages such as hot chocolate. Lastly, whipped cream can be added to savory dishes such as soups or creamy sauce for added richness.

The difference between whipped cream and whipped topping.

Whipped Cream refers to actual cream that has been whipped. Usually sugar or sugar alternative and an extract, such as vanilla extract, is added for additional flavor.

Whipped topping, on the other hand, is non-dairy. It is usually made with vegetable oils (such as palm or coconut oil) and can often include sweeteners, stabilizers, and emulsifiers.

How do you fix homemade whipped cream?

Sometimes homemade whipped cream can go bad. This is why following the tips and directions can be a good idea.

Deflated whipped cream can happen when the whipped cream loses air.
To fix deflated whipped cream place the whipped cream into your refrigerator for about 15 minutes to help firm it up. Then re-whip the whipped cream on low speed.

Over-Whipped Whipped Cream happens when you beat your whipped cream beyond the stiff peak stage and it becomes grainy or like butter. The easiest thing to do is to just start over using a clean bowl with clean whisk attachment. The over-whipped cream can be made into homemade butter if you are feeling ambitious however.

Not all sugar alternatives taste the same as they are made with different ingredients. You may need to experiment with different options as sweetness levels, as well as aftertastes, can vary .

    1. While my recipe if made with a powdered sugar alternative, it is possible to make this recipe with a natural sweetener such as honey or maple syrup. You may however have to make adjustments as needed for texture and taste.
    2. Chilling your equipment is essential for the success of your homemade whipped cream. This means placing your mixing bowl, beaters or whisk attachments in your refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes before making your homemade whipped cream. Your whipping cream should also be cold.
    3. Make this homemade whipped topping vegan. Use a chilled full-fat coconut milk instead of whipping cream.

How to store sugar free whipped cream recipe

This recipe is best when served just after whipping it up as it will be at its full volume thanks to the air that you just whipped into it. However, if you need to store it, you can place your whipped topping in an airtight container and refrigerate it for up to a day, whipping it again as needed when serving. This whipped cream can also be frozen and then re-whipped as needed.
