Some folks use 'jam' and 'jelly' interchangeably as if they are the same thing.
However, even though they have similar ingredients and uses, there is a difference between the two.
Jams are smooth and really preferred for spreading on bread (or whatever you spread them on to). On the other hand, jelly is chunky as it is intended to be more of a fruit preserve and enjoyed as such.
Because jam is smooth and easy to spread, there is a bit of preparation that is needed to make it. This is especially true when it comes to strawberries.
To prep strawberries, first remove the stems and any leaves. I like to rinse mine as well. To crush the strawberries you can use a blender, food processor, or do it my hand using a masher. Then measure the strawberries to make the jam.
