This recipe for a Sugar Free Skinny Daiquiri is especially for folks watching their sugar and carbs.
While alcohol should be taken in moderation, especially on any diet, this recipe could be worth a try.
Sugar Free Skinny Daiquiri
This is the no sugar added version of a favorite beverage.
I might add that you do not have to add the alcohol to this one if you would like to go the 'Shirley Temple' route too! 🙂
This diet-friendly beverage is a lot like my recently posted 'skinny' or sugar free margarita recipe.
Both recipes feature the great taste of lime. However, while margaritas are known for the tequila that is in them, this daiquiri recipe is known for its rum.
When it comes to calories in alcoholic beverages such as this one, a daiquiri is known to be able to pile them on.
The calories, and well the sugar, that are added to a daiquiri recipe are to blame for the most part when it comes to the downside of this drink. After all, there are some daiquiri recipes that may be way too too sweet for their own good (I'm thinking about some of those restaurant special daiquiris especially!).
But, to be honest, you really only need to add two real ingredients in addition to the ice, to a daiquiri.
Those two ingredients that are added are lime juice and rum. Everything else that is added to the glass is added to enhance it in flavor and or color.
You may be wondering what kind of rum to add to your daiquiri.
The daiquiri is actually a simple beverage and was developed to be a relaxing beach side vacation loving treat. As a result, white rum is recommended in this drink.
How we serve up the daiquiri has also evolved.
This was developed as a simple drink that was served in a cold glass over ice. However, the daiquiri can also be shaken or even blended (think frozen daiquiri!).
Here are some tips for making your Skinny Daiquiri.
I already mentioned that you can make this daiquiri by simply pouring your ingrdeints over a glass of ice. However, using a shaker or even blender are other options for making your skinny daiquiri.
Here are some more helpful tips.
- Give your daiquiri a different flavor and color by adding an on the go or individual sized packet of a powdered beverage.
- This recipe calls for lime zest. You can zest your own lime into fancy strips and better zest by using a citrus zester with peeler.
- This recipe calls for lime juice, which normally comes with a bit of its own natural sugar. You can avoid this sugar by using a lime juice alternative that has no sugar added to it.
You will need a sugar alternative to make this recipe.
Please use an alternative that measures 1:1 with sugar if possible. You will need to use the equivalent to two teaspoons per serving for this recipe.
