Ingredients needed to make cinnamon blondies with no added sugar.
There are three parts to this recipe. The blondies, the swirl, and the cream cheese frosting.
Blondie Ingredients.
- Flour. All purpose flour was used to make my blondies. If you use an alternative flour, make sure that it measures and baked like all purpose flour.
- Baking Powder. Added for leveaning.
- Butter. Your butter should be melted. Also, if you are using unsalted butter, add a half teaspoon of salt to the flour .
- Brown Sugar Alternative. For best results, select a brown sugar alternative that measures like brown sugar and that can also be baked with.
- Eggs. Your eggs should be at room temperature for optimal blending.
- Vanilla Extract. Added for flavor balance.
For the cinnamon swirl.
- Melted Butter.
- Brown Sugar Alternative.
- Ground Cinnamon.
Cream cheese frosting ingredients.
- Cream Cheese. Use a full fat cream cheese that has been softened to room temperature.
- Powdered Sugar Alternative. Select a powdered version rather than granular or liquid.
- Vanilla Extract. A small amount is used for flavoring the frosting.
Tips for making the best cinnamon roll blondies with cream cheese frosting.
These blondies should be baked in a square baking pan. If you use a baking dish or rectangular baking pan instead, keep an eye on the blondies while they are baking as baking times can vary.
More helpful tips for you.
- Melted butter is used to make a more tender texture. Your butter should be cooled and not browned before adding it to the mixing bowl.
- For a 'fudgier' blondie, reduce the cooking time slightly (up to a couple of minutes).
- To make firmer blondies, increase the cooking time slightly and allow the brownies to cool in the pan longer.
- The frosting is optional but, keep in mind that not a lot is used as it is piped or drizzled over the blondies.
- To thin out the frosting simple add a bit of milk. For thickening, stir in additional powdered alternative.
- If you want to frost the blondines instead of piping or drizzling, you will probably need to double the frosting ingredients.
How to make Sugar Free Cinnamon Roll Blondie Bars.
Prep time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 20 minutes
Servings: 16, depending on how your bars are cut .
- Preheat your oven to 350 and prepare a square baking pan for nonstick. I like to use parchment paper that overhangs the sides of the pan for a recipe such as this one.
- In a medium bowl, use a whisk to combine together the flour, baking powder, and optional salt.
- Next, in a mixing bowl, blend together the melted butter and the brown sugar alternative until combined and smooth. Then stir in the eggs and vanilla extract.
- Add the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the ingredients in the mixing bowl and mix until just combined. Then transfer the ingredients to the prepared baking pan from the first step above.
- To make the swirl, combine together the remaining melted butter, brown sugar alternative, and the cinnamon in a small bowl. Use a spoon to drop dollops of the mixture over the blondie batter in the pan. Then use a butter knife to turn the dollops into swirls by gently moving the dollop ingredients.
- Bake the blondines for 20-25 minutes or until the blondies have turned golden and the edges appear to be set. The blondies will still be somewhat soft in the center.
- Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan before adding the frosting.
- To make the frosting, simply combine together the frosting ingredients until creamy, making adjustments as needed for texture. You can drizzle, pipe, or spread the frosting over the cooled blondies.
Expert Tip👉 Baking times can vary with this recipe. The blondies should be done baking when the edges have turned golden brown and the center is still soft. The center will set while the blondies cool.
How to store cinnamon roll blondies.
Once they are fully cooled, these blondies should be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored and refrigerated, these blondies should keep for up to five days or frozen for up to a few months (I would not freeze the frosted blondies).
