This Sugar Free 'Magnolia' Style Chocolate Chip Cookies tastes just like the regular version.
However, this cookie does not have all of the added sugar in it.
Sugar Free 'Magnolia' Style Chocolate Chip Cookies
This recipe reminds me a lot of my Soft and Chewy Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies.
However, that cookie is more focused on making the cookie soft and chewy first while this cookie is all about the great taste.
There really are a lot of different ways to make chocolate chips cookies.
While I like every chocolate chip cookie that I have ever tasted, I can see why some folks are more partial to certain cookies. Really for me it is more about the warm cookie just out of the oven rather than being about a certain taste or texture.
This recipe for sugar free chocolate chip cookies is based upon a famous recipe that was developed by Joanna Gaines.
For those who do not know who she is, Joanna came to fame thanks to a home design show in which she and her husband would take a home that was in need and fix it up to be the 'nicest home on the block.' While hubby would work on the bones of the home, Joanna would apply her decorating knowledge with her lifestyle skills into making that house a home.
Chocolate chip cookies are one of the most popular cookies in the world.
While nothing is scientific when it comes to determining this, that I am aware of, chocolate chip cookies always seem to end up somewhere high on the list of favorites. It is not hard to see, smell, or tasty why.
This chocolate chip cookie calls for All Purpose Flour
While I have not tried this (as of this writing) I do believe that it is possible to substitute in another kind of flour to suit your needs.
To make this low carb, use a low carb all purpose flour.
Also, to make this keto use a keto all purpose flour.
Lastly, to make this recipe gluten free, use an all purpose gluten free flour.
Also, if you are using Almond flour, please add an additional egg to the batter to aid in the binding process. I suggest anyone using any of the all purpose flour alternatives check the packaging to see if an additional egg or other binder for gluten free baking is needed as well.
Here are some tips for baking these Magnolia Style Cookies based upon Joanna Gaines' recipe.
Joanna says that she had experimented with other recipes and was never totally pleased with the results. So as a result, she tweaked the recipe to make it perfect for her taste (she likes a 'chunky' cookie).
There are a few tweaks that Joanna has made to her cookies that may surprise you.
- Joanna uses only brown sugar (no regular white sugar). You can find granular brown sugar alternatives here.
- She also uses less butter than most chocolate chip cookies call for. Joanna says that she was at first 'surprised' at how good her cookies tasted with less butter in them. (who knew?)
- Joanna also has no set rule for the amount of chocolate chips that she uses in a recipe.
- The positioning of the oven rack is important to baking a perfect cookie. She likes to position her rack on the center of her oven
- Joanna uses semisweet chocolate chips in her cookies. You can find Sugar Free Semisweet Chocolate Chips here.
This sugar free chocolate chip cookie is based upon the famous Joanna Gaines Magnolia Chocolate Chip Cookie.
The ingredients and instructions have been adjusted to make this cookie without adding sugar to it. While it may not look exactly like hers or taste exactly like hers, it is a pretty good sugar free 'knock- off'. However, making this cookie exactly like hers is not possible as the chemical makeup of real brown sugar as well as the sugar in chocolate chips, is impossible to replicate in a sugar free version (maybe one day!!).

How to make Sugar Free 'Magnolia' Style Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Prep your cookie sheets with Parchment Paper and preheat your oven to 325.
- In a medium bowl, use a fork to gently stir together the flour, sea salt, and baking soda. Set this bowl aside.
- Next, in a mixing bowl beat together the butter and the sugar. She suggests using a 'paddle attachment' and beating on 'medium' for 2-3 minutes. Then beat in your eggs and vanilla.
- When the ingredients have been blended add the flour mixture from the first bowl to the mixing bowl. Then mix until the flour is 'just blended' then set the mixer on a high speed for a few seconds. Add the chocolate chips and beat once again on high for five seconds (I am a fan of folding them in).
- Bake your cookies for 12-14 minutes or until they become 'lightly brown' on top. Cool the cookies still on the cookie pan for a minute and then transfer to a cookie rack.
