Almond butter tastes pretty much like almonds.
But, like peanut butter, almond butter is smoother and the palate that regular almonds are.
Also, because it is considered to be a 'butter', almond butter really has a rich taste to it.
If you have been wondering if almonds are healthy and what they do to the body, you may be a bit surprised.
That is, surprised in a good way as almonds are among the healthiest nuts that you can eat. As a matter of fact, there are some folks (like myself) who are urged to eat almonds every day.
The health benefits of almonds are numerous.
The experts tell us that almonds contain those healthy fats that we need. Also, they contain fiber and protein and are linked to lowering blood sugar levels as well as reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Oats, which are also in this recipe, also has many healthy benefits for us.
What I like about oats is that they fills me up and for a long time. I like to mix oats in my Greek Yogurt which makes both taste so much better.
However, there are some folks who say that oats are among the healthiest grains around.
Not only are oats a gluten free whole grain, they are also high in fiber. Also, oats have been linked to lowering blood pressure as well as having other health benefits.
Here are some tips to help you make this great tasting recipe.
This is a recipe that calls for oats. However, while I am calling for quick oats in the ingredient listing, you could choose to use old fashion oats or a mix of the two. The main difference between the two kinds of oats is in how they are prepared. As a result of how they are prepared, quick oats will cook longer because they have been prepared more while old fashion or rolled oats will provide for a better texture. mushy.
Here are some more great tips for you.

How to make Sugar Free Almond Butter Bars
- Preheat your oven to 325. Prep a baking dish for nonstick. I suggest lining it with Parchment Paper or Aluminum foil before greasing or spraying it. Extending the parchment or foil beyond the pan will make it easier to transport your bars for cutting into squares.
- In a medium bowl, use a fork to mix together the flour, baking soda, and oats.
- Next, in a mixing bowl blend together the butter with the sugars. Once this is creamed you can blend in the almond butter.
- For the next step, we will add the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the mixing bowl. Do this by adding half of the dry ingredients at a time, stirring between additions. Then mix in the eggs and vanilla extract.
- You have three options for adding the chocolate chips. You can fold in the chocolate chips, add half of the batter to the prepared pan then the chips and then the remaining batter to make three layers, or you can divide the chocolate chips saving ½ cup to place on top of the batter before you place the pan into the oven (for a melted chocolate topping).
- Bake this for 25-30 minutes or until set. Your bars will become less soft if you allow them to bake too long (some folks prefer it this way). Allow your bars to cool before your cut them into squares
