Low Carb Air Fried Cauliflower Tots
The perfect idea for a low carbohydrate snack!
Especially for those of us who are watching their carb intake!
I like that this is also an easy recipe to make.
This recipe can also be personalized with ingredients to make it taste even better!
Cauliflower is a healthy vegetable that seems to be getting more popular every day.
It took me the longest time to accept cauliflower as I always thought it was rather tasteless. Certainly, there were, and are, vegetables that taste better than cauliflower to me.
However, cauliflower is healthy and thus, is also worth me taking a second look at.
While cauliflower is not totally carbohydrate-free, it is a good source of fiber. As a result, as carb counters know, the fiber helps keep those carbs down.
Cauliflower is an excellent source of certain vitamins and nutrients.
There are fewer foods that contain more vitamin C than cauliflower. Cauliflower also contains a good amount of vitamin B-6.
There are other good attributes of nutrition that come with cauliflower.
I am talking about potassium especially. Lastly, cauliflower is one of the few vegetables that are a decent source of protein (vegans and vegetarians take note!).
This recipe calls for bread crumbs that are low in carbohydrates.
You can find low carb bread crumbs or alternatives for low carb bread crumbs online.
Another option would be to make your own low carb bread crumbs.
Simply make your own low carb bread or buy low carb bread online. Toast the bread and allow it to cool and thoroughly dry out. Then place the toasted bread in a blender or food processor to make the crumbs.
Personalizing this recipe can easily be done with your choice of seasonings.
You could go with a simple seasoned salt and herb such as chives or parsley. However, there are other great seasonings that you could alternatively use tasty seasonings such as one of these.

Another option would be to make your own low carb bread crumbs.
Simply make your own low carb bread or buy low carb bread online. Toast the bread and allow it to cool and thoroughly dry out. Then place the toasted bread in a blender or food processor to make the crumbs.

What you will need to make this Low Carb Air Fried Cauliflower Tots
- Cauliflower- ½ large head (about four cups). Steam this in boiling water until tender- about three to four minutes. Alternatively, you can use cauliflower rice (about 4 cups).
- Egg- 1, beaten lightly.
- Low Carbohydrate Bread Crumbs- ½ cup. As mentioned, you can find low carb bread crumbs or alternatives for low carb bread crumbs online. OR you can make your own using low carb bread toasting the bread and allowing it to cool and thoroughly dry out. Then place the toasted bread in a blender or food processor to make the crumbs.
- Cheddar Cheese- 1 cup shredded.
- Parmesan Cheese- 1 cup shredded or grated.
- Seasonings- 2 tablespoons total.
You could go with a simple seasoned salt and herb such as chives or parsley. However, there are other great seasonings that you could alternatively use tasty seasonings such as one of these.
How to make Low Carb Air Fried Cauliflower Tots
- Prepare you cauliflower as described above by steaming it for three to four minutes. Allow the cauliflower to drain and cool thoroughly. When ready you can prepare the cauliflower by chopping it up fine or pulsing it in a a food processor or good blender. Skip this step if you are using cauliflower rice instead of cauliflower itself.
- Preheat your air fryer to 370. I like to gently spray my fryer basket with nonstick before placing it into the air fryer.
- In a large bowl, combine together the cauliflower, egg, bread crumbs, cheeses, and seasoning. Mix these together until you are able to form your tots. You can use a tablespoon to help you with this. If your mix need additional liquid, simply add a bit of water a teaspoon at a time. Tip: apply a bit of oil to your hands to help keep the ingredients from sticking to your hands.
- Place 6-8 tots (depending on the size) into the fryer taking care to not overlap them. Fry for 5-7 minutes or until done. Repeat the process until all of your tots are done.
