Tips for making the best apple muffins with cinnamon
When selecting apples to use in this recipe, use apples that can be baked with. I personally like to use a mix of sweet and tart apples. Apples that bake well include Honeycrisp, Fuji, Pink Lady, Gala, Braeburn, and Granny Smith.
More helpful tips for you.
- When you dice your apples, dice them into small pieces that are about the same size (around ยผ to ยฝ inch). This will help the apples distribute evenly in the batter as well allow the muffins to bake evenly.
- The apples are 'folded' rather than mixed into the batter. This helps to keep the apples intact rather than breaking down. Also, avoid over-mixing the ingredients when you do add the apples.
- The muffins should sit in the pan for about five minutes after taking them out of the oven in order to allow them to set. Avoid leaving the muffins in the pan any longer as the muffins can become soggy on the bottom.
How to store apple cinnamon muffins
Once they have fully cooled they can be stored in an airtight container that is lined with a paper towel on the bottom. When properly stored apple cinnamon muffins can keep for up to four days at room temperature, up to a week when refrigerated, or frozen for up to a few months.
