Tips for making the best fruit roll ups.

While blueberries and apples were used to make my roll-ups, this recipe can be made with a variety of fruits. Avoid fruits that have a high acid content such as lemons, oranges or pineapples. Fruit that does work well in this recipe includes bananas, peaches, raspberries or strawberries.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Fresh fruit works best in this recipe. You can use frozen blueberries but you must thaw them completely and then drain the excess liquid before starting. Added moisture in the fruit mixture can make the roll ups runny and take longer to dehydrate as a result.
    2. Evenly spreading the mixture out over the parchment paper/mat is the secret to success of this recipe. This allows the blended fruit to dehydrate uniformly and at the same time.
    3. A silicone baking mat or parchment paper can be used to make this recipe. If you are using parchment paper, note that it can get very brittle in the oven and can also wrinkle when it gets wet which means that your fruit roll ups will have wrinkles in them.
    4. When is the roll-up done dehydrating? When the center is no longer tacky to the touch. If it is no longer tacky, it will also be easier to pull away the parchment paper.

How to store Homemade Roll Ups.

Homemade fruit roll-ups should be stored in an airtight container to keep them from drying out while preventing moisture from affecting them. When properly stored, roll ups should for up to two weeks at room temperature or up to a month when refrigerated. They can also be frozen for up to six months and then thawed at room temperature
