Chocolate chip short bread cookies are both a shortbread and an a chocolate chip cookies as they have the rich buttery flavor along with the tender texture of a shortbread cookies with the surprise of chocolate chips.

What you need to make chocolate chip shortbread cookies.
- Flour Regular all purpose flour was used to make my cookies.
- Baking Powder. A small amount is used for leavening.
- Ground Cinnamon. Adds a nice accent to these cookies.
- Butter. Your butter should be softened to rom temperature. If you are using unsalted butter you can add a half teaspoon of salt to your flour.
- Sugar Alternative. Granular Sugar alternative and a Brown Sugar alternative are used in this recipe. Select sugar alternatives that measure like actual sugar and that can also be baked with for best results.
- Sugar Free Chocolate Chips. Sugar free milk chocolate chips work well in this recipe for a 'melt in your mouth' texture.

How to make No Added Sugar Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookies
- Prep Time: 10 minutes .
- Bake Time: 22 minutes .
- Servings: 18 3โ cookies .

- Prepare Preheat your oven to 300f. Also, prep your baking sheet(s) as needed. Parchment paper or a baking mat can work in this recipe.
- Dry ingredients. In a small or medium mixing bowl, use a whisk to combine together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and optional salt (if using unsalted butter).
- Cream In a large mixing bowl, beat together softened butter and sugar alternatives until creamy.
- Combine. Scrape down the sides of your mixing bowl and then add the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the mixing bowl and mix until just combined.
- Chocolate Chips. Lastly, use a rubber spatula or similar item to fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop. Use a cookie scoop to scoop out the cookie dough, roll the dough between your hands, and then place the rolled out cookies on to your prepared baking sheet an inch and a half to two inches apart. Use the palm of your hand to then slightly flatten each cookie.
- Bake. Bake your cookies for 20-22 minutes or until the bottoms of the cookies begin to turn golden brown.
- Cool Allow the cookies to sit on the baking sheet for ten minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to fully cool.
