This delicious recipe for Sugar Free Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies is a classic one.
I am just happy to know that it is possible to make this too!
Sugar Free Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies
As you may expect, this recipe is based upon that famous cookie with a chocolate candy in the middle recipe.
Hence, there are many people who would refer to this cookie as the "Chocolate Kiss Cookie".
Of course, this 'Chocolate Kiss Cookie' is without all of the added sugar in it.
It is kind of like my Sugar Free Low Carb 'M & M' Cookie recipe in that both recipes are based upon famous candy.
By the way, there is also a Sugar Free Lemon Drop Cookie recipe, in case you are looking for a great recipe that does not have chocolate in it.
You may be wondering if you could use chocolate kisses in this recipe.
Sadly, there is no sugar free version of a chocolate kiss candy. However, we can make our own sugar free (copycat) chocolate kisses.
Here is how to make your own sugar free chocolate kiss candy.
You will need a 'kiss' shaped mold, such as one of these. Also, you will need sugar free chocolate chips.
Here is how to melt chocolate for molds.
I like to start by spraying my molds lightly with nonstick spray before I begin. This will help with removal and with cleanup as well later one.
Then melt your chocolate in the microwave.
Place your sugar free chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high, stopping every thirty seconds to stir, until the chocolate has melted. Then transfer the chocolate to the prepared molds. You can freeze or refrigerate your homemade chocolate kisses until they have hardened (15-45 minutes) and are ready to use in this recipe.
I have some helpful tips for your cookie baking in this recipe as well.
- Refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes before making these cookies to help prevent too much spreading while they bake.
- Substitute your homemade 'chocolate kisses' with sugar free peanut butter cups. They are already made and they have peanut butter in them too!
- This dough can be stored in the refrigerator for about four days or frozen for up to six months!
This recipe does call for peanut butter.
You can make your own sugar free peanut butter using this recipe. However, you can also buy no sugar added peanut butter online as well.
To make this low carb, use a low carb all purpose flour.
Also, to make this keto use a keto all purpose flour. To make this recipe gluten free, use an all purpose gluten free flour.
Also, if you are using Almond flour, please add an additional egg to the batter to aid in the binding process. I suggest anyone using any of the all purpose flour alternatives check the packaging to see if an additional egg or other binder for gluten free baking is needed as well.

How to make Sugar Free Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 350 and prep your cookies sheets as needed. I like to use Parchment Paper .
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Set this bowl aside for a moment.
- Next, in a mixing bowl and low to medium speed, cream together your sugars (white and brown) with your butter and peanut butter. The beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- For the next step, we will add the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the mixing bowl. Do this by adding half of the dry ingredients at a time, stirring between additions.
- To form the cookies, simply use a tablespoon to measure out the dough needed for each cookie. Roll the dough into a ball. If desired, you can roll the ball in additional granular sugar alternative, and then place the balls on to the cookie sheet. Do not press the balls flat and also be sure to leave plenty of room between the balls as the cookies will spread while baking.
- Bake your cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edges begin to brown. Remove from the oven and press the chocolate candy into the center of the cookie before the cookie can cool.
