Homemade Sugar Free Gummy Candy
This is such an easy and tasty snack to make.
Plus, these gummy candies can be used in so many other ways for decorating desserts.
I had to give up gummy anything when I kicked the sugar out of my diet.
That is because the average gummy candy is loaded with a bunch of sugar.
However, when you make them yourself, like I like to do, you do not need all of that added sugar.
There are two ways, or options, to make a recipe such as this one.
In the first option, you can use a sugar free powdered beverage package.
For example, using a flavored sugar free beverage mix packet will give you both colorful and flavorful gummy candy.

You can make these gummy candies using sugar free lemonade or even sugar free ice tea if you desire. This is a really easy treat to make!
The second method involves using a flavored sugar free gelatin.
This method offers us the taste of a gelatin along with the color that comes with that taste.

Method 1-The recipe for Homemade Sugar Free Gummy Candy
As mentioned, you will need sugar free gelatin to make this recipe.
Choose a variety of colors and flavors of gelatin to make a variety of gummy candy.
Also, use Silicon molds that come in fun shapes for your candy.
Method 1- Here is what you will need to make this Homemade Sugar Free Gummy Candy
This is for each batch which would be each color/flavor.
- Sugar Free Gelatin- 1 box (4 ½ servings).
- Unflavored Gelatin- you want the amount that equals 24 servings. For example, if you are using the packets that are 4 servings each, use 6 packets. We will be using this dry, do not prepare the gelatin.
- Cold Water- ½ cup.
- Nonstick Cooking Spray- recommended for molds.
How to make Homemade Sugar Free Gummy Candy
- Start by prepping your candy molds with the nonstick spray. Tip: place the molds on a cookie sheet to make it easier to move them around later on.
- Next, in a saucepan (2-4 quart), whisk together both the flavored and unflavored gelatin along with the cold water. When the gelatin is fully dissolved, place the saucepan on medium heat. Allow the mixture to liquefy on the stove, whisking as needed.
- When your mixture has thoroughly liquefied, you can remove it from the heat.
- Carefully use a Dropper or pipette to fill the prepped molds with the liquid. Allow the candy to cool in the molds. They can be placed in a refrigerator for a few hours or in a freezer for 15-20 minutes.
Method 2- Kool-Aid flavored sugar free gummy candies
What you will need to make this Homemade Sugar Free Gummy Candy
- Water- 1 quart.
- Unflavored Gelatin- 3 packets (.25 ounce packets which is equivalent to 12 servings total).
- Kool-Aid Unsweetened Flavored Packets- 4 on-the -go size or ½ of a regular sized packet (essentially 4 servings). Can use a similar unsweetened beverage brand if desired.
- Sugar Alternative- Equivalent to 2 ½ teaspoons of sugar. Omit if you are using something like Crystal Light which is already has sweetener in it
- Cold Water- ⅓ Cup
How to make Homemade Sugar Free Gummy Candy
- Use a 2 quart or similar sized sauce pan and add 1 quart of water to it (fill the saucepan halfway with water). Bring this to a boil.
- Meanwhile, add the unflavored gelatin and sugar alternative to the cold water and stir it in until the gelatin is dissolved. Use a heat resistant cup to do this as we will be placing this cup into the boiling water following this step. Stir these until dissolved and there are no lumps.
- Carefully place the mixture, in it's cup, into the boiling water. Stir constantly to liquefy or form a 'syrup'.
- When a syrup has formed, you can remove the cup from the boiling water and carefully fill your molds.
Tips:
- Place molds on a cookie sheet or similar sheet with sides before filling. This will make it easier to move the molds while they are setting.
- Use a pipette or a syringe to fill smaller molds.
- Store in the refrigerator to retain the texture of the gummy candies
