Low Carb Flaxseed Crackers
These flaxseed crackers remind me a lot of my Low Carb Cheddar Crackers.
Both recipes are crackers that you can eat while on a low carb or keto diet.
You could easily enjoy these crackers alone, as a snack.
However, slicing up some yummy cheese is another great option for eating low carbohydrate crackers. Or, you could simply spread some butter or cream cheese on top as well.
You may be wondering if flaxseeds are ketogenic.
As far as low carb and keto diets go, flaxseeds are certainly friendly for these diets. This is because they net out and about .2 grams of carbs in an average serving.
Flaxseeds are also pretty healthy, which is nice to hear for diets including the low carb and keto diets.
Experts tell use that flaxseeds are a great source of healthy fats and fiber. However, it could be the antioxidants that make flaxseeds to great.
There really are many ways to eat flaxseeds.
That is, besides making yummy crackers out of them. You could easily just sprinkle your flaxseeds over just about anything that you eat.
But, I like to add flaxseeds to my bread.
When I add flaxseeds to my Low Carb Bread Machine Bread, they add a nice crunch to the texture of the bread that reminds me of rye bread. It does not take a lot of flaxseeds to great results!
Here are some tips for making your flaxseed crackers.
I just mentioned that flaxseeds add to the texture of whatever you put them into. Also, flaxseeds are also a healthy element to add to anything that you can add them to.
Here is are some more great tips for using flaxseeds.
- While this recipe is for flaxseeds, you could try mixing in some sesame seeds, chia, or other similar seeds for part of the flaxseeds. Adding other kinds of seeds can add to the color, texture, and taste of these crackers.
- You can easily alter the taste of these crackers by changing up the seasonings that you add to them. Feel free to experiment!
- We are using whole flaxseeds that we will soak before using them in this recipe. You can skip this step by trying a flaxseed meal instead which will make them more digestible for you.
- These crackers may seem as if they can go stale faster than normal crackers can. Simply place them in a warm oven on a low temperature to crispin them up as needed.
Is it "flaxseed" or "flax seed"?
To be honest, I have seen them mentioned as one work and two words. Technically, they are "flax" or "linseed". When a flax plant is used for its seeds, we can call them flax seeds or flaxseeds. But, flax can also be used to make bed sheets. As a result, I will just roll with them in these crackers and when I add them to my bread.
