Tips for making the best easy raspberry jam bars.
Old fashioned (or rolled oats) are used in this recipe to make the bars chewy and for texture. Quick oats will not work as well in this recipe so I would suggest using the rolled or old fashioned oats.

- While my bars were made with Raspberry Preserves, other flavors can work in this recipe as well. I like apricot, blackberry, or strawberry jam, for this recipe.
- Jams or preserves can differ in texture or consistencies depending on how they are made. This means that baking times may differ or a jam or preserve might start bubbling before the crust is done. You can try covering the baking bars with foil for the last few minutes of baking.
- I prefer to use a see-thru baking dish for this recipe. This makes it easy to see the sides of the bars while they are baking .
- Vegan folks can use a vegan butter-flavored crisco as a butter replacement in this recipe. When tested, they turned out more
chewy than crisp. I would recommend cooking for a few extra minutes if you decide to go this
route. - Also tested was Bobโs Red Mill 1-to-1 gluten free all purpose flour, and they
turned out just fine. I would not suggest trying to replace the flour with a nut flour in this recipe, as they just did not hold together well in this recipe.
How to make Raspberry Oatmeal Bars with no added sugar.
Prep Time: 15 minutes .
Bake Time : 25 minutes .
Servings: 16 small bars, or 9 large bars .
- Preheat you oven to 350 and prep a square baking dish for nonstick. Greasing the baking dish will make it easier for you to observe the baking bars.
- In a large mixing bowl, use a whisk to combine together the brown sugar alternative, flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
- Use a pastry blender (or two knives) cut the butter into the mixture until there are chunks the size of peas.
- To make the crust, place about two cups of the mixture into your prepared baking dish and press it into place using your hand or a cup with a lightly floured bottom to prevent sticking.
- Next, on top of the crust layer, evenly spread out the raspberry layer (preserves or jam) using an offset spatula or similar item.
- Lastly, top the raspberry layer with the remaining mixture from the mixing bowl (brown sugar alternative etc.).
- Bake the bars for 20- 25 minutes, or until the topping is nicely browned, and the preserves are bubbly all
over, especially around the edges. - Allow the bars to fully cool before slicing into servings.
Expert Tip ๐ Using preserves made with the seeds is a personal choice as not everyone is a fan of the seeds. In this recipe using raspberry preserves with seeds adds a bit of crunch, fiber, and a small amount of flavor.
How to store raspberry crumble bars.
Once the bars have fully cooled and set, they should be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, these bars should keep for about three days at room temperature or up to two weeks when refrigerated.
