Ingredients needed to make chocolate chip brownies without sugar.

    • Butter. If you are using unsalted butter you can add a half teaspoon of salt to the flour.
    • Sugar Free Semi Sweet Chocolate. You can use chips or a bar that has been broken up into pieces.
    • Eggs. Use large eggs that are at room temperature.
    • Sugar Alternative and Brown Sugar Alternative. When selecting alternatives, use alternatives that are granular, measure like sugar, and that can be baked with.
    • Vanilla Extract.Added for flavor balance.
    • Flour. All purpose flour was used to make my brownies. If you want to try an alternative flour, it should measure like all purpose.
    • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder. Use a good quality unsweetened cocoa powder for optimal flavor.
    • Sugar Free Chocolate Chips. In a way, this is a triple chocolate recipe. These chocolate chips will be the chocolate chips that you see. Semi sweet or the chip of your choice can be used.

Tips for making the best sugar free brownies.

This recipe is made from scratch and gets its chocolaty brownie color and flavor from using unsweetened cocoa powder. When selecting your unsweetened cocoa powder, select one that is fresh and of good quality for best results.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Use fresh ingredients in your brownies batter. This is essential especially with your dry ingredients as expired ingredients can, and most likely will, affect your brownies results ๐Ÿ™ .
    2. Make this sugar free recipe low carbohydrate and keto diets friendly. Simply swap out the all purpose flour with a low carb all purpose flour and make sure to use low carbohydrate chocolate chips.
    3. I like to line my baking pan with parchment paper that overhangs the edges of the pan. This not only makes it easier to clean up my mess, it makes it easier to remove the cooled brownies for slicing.
    4. When mixing your ingredients, mix them until just combined. Overmixing ingredients can affect the texture.
    5. These brownies have a chewy center that is also somewhat fudgy. You can make your brownies even more fudgy by reducing your baking time slightly. However, you can alternatively make your brownies a bit more crisp by by baking your brownies a bit longer.
    6. Lastly, your brownies are done baking when the edges are set. The center will be soft but, should set while the brownies are cooling.

How to make Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Brownies

    Prep Time: 15 minutes .
    Bake Time : 25 minutes .
    Servings: 16 brownies .

    1. Prepare. Preheat your oven to 325 and prepare a square baking pan for nonstick. I like to use parchment paper that overhangs the edges of the baking pan for a recipe such as this one.
    2. Melt. In a microwave safe bowl, melt together the butter and semi sweet chocolate (not the chips added later on). Microwave the ingredients until melted, stopping to stir every 30 seconds (it should take about a minute and a half to two minutes). Then let the ingredients sit while you start the next step.
    3. Sugar Alternatives. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar alternatives, and vanilla extract. Then add the melted ingredients to the bowl and mix until well combined.
    4. Dry Ingredients. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and then add the flour and unsweetened cocoa powder to the mixing bowl and mix until just combined.
    5. Chocolate Chips. Use a rubber spatula or similar item to fold in the remaining chocolate chips.
    6. Bake. Transfer the ingredients to your prepared baking pan and then bake the brownies in the center of your oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges have set and the center is still soft.
    7. Cool. Let the brownies cool in the baking pan for about 15 minutes before removing the brownies from the pan.

Expert Tip๐Ÿ‘‰ Using the toothpick test for determining whether or not the brownies are done baking may not work in this recipe as the soft chocolate chips can give a false result.

How to store chocolate chip brownies.

Once these brownies have fully cooled they can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, these brownies should keep at room temperature for about three days, refrigerated for about five days, or frozen for up to a few months.
