This Sugar Free Mint Patty Candy sure reminds me of one of my favorite candy treats.
The only difference being that this one does not have sure in it.

Mint and chocolate in a candy are one of the best marriages of taste that I can think of.
I mean, not only do you get that great chocolate taste, you also get that minty taste as well.

There is certainly something refreshing about biting into the taste of mint.
The cool 'sensation' as the often like to say, is like no other.
By the way, I also think that the taste of mint sometimes gets even better when it is cold.

To get that great minty taste you will need a bit of peppermint extract involved.

It does not take a whole lot of peppermint extract to get this candy tasting so good.
However, the amount that we will use in this recipe is really just perfect!

You can easily find peppermint extract online.

     All Natural Extract, Pure Peppermint,
    All Natural Extract, Pure Peppermint.
    Made from all-natural oils
    No artificial colors or flavors
Try adding to iced tea or hot cocoa
Use in desserts or candies, Kosher.

Here is what else that you may need and do not have on hand.

This recipe calls for Condensed Milk. However, Condensed Milk has sugar in it. But, I do have a recipe for how to make Sugar Free Condensed Milk here.

Also needed is sugar free powdered sugar.
I can help you out with this as well. You will find my recipe for sugar free powdered sugar here.

Also needed for this recipe are sugar free chocolate chips.

I suggest using the semi sweet variety of sugar free chocolate chips as we are making candy with it.
You can find Sugar Free Chocolate Chips online.

    Lastly, you will need shortening.
A good substitute for shortening is Coconut Oil or similar non hydrogenated shortening. Use these alternatives especially if you are looking to keep your candy keto friendly.

The recipe for Sugar Free Mint Patty Candy

As mentioned, this recipe calls for Condensed Milk. However, Condensed Milk has sugar in it. But, I do have a recipe for how to make Sugar Free Condensed Milk here.
Also needed is sugar free powdered sugar.

What you will need to make this delicious sugar free recipe.

This recipe can be made using a candy mold. You can find candy molds here.

    • Sugar Free Condensed Milk- ยพ cup. You can find the recipe for this sugar free condensed milk here.
    • Peppermint Extract- 2 teaspoons.
    • Sugar Free Powdered Sugar- 3 ยฝ cups. You can find the recipe for sugar free powdered sugar here. Or, you can buy sugar free powdered sugar online.
    • Sugar Free Chocolate Chips- 3 cups. Semisweet works best.
    • Coconut Oil or similar non hydrogenated shortening - 2 teaspoons.

How to make Sugar Free Mint Patty Candy

This recipe takes a bit more time to make. In addition, that is because the inside of the candy needs time to set before it is covered with chocolate.

    How to make this recipe.

    • First of all, start by lining a baking pan with parchment or wax paper.
    • In a mixing bowl combine together your sugar free condensed milk and extract. It should thus take a few seconds to do this. Then add half of the sugar free powdered sugar and blend. Slowly add the remaining sugar free powdered sugar until it has all been added. I use a paddle attachment on low to low medium speed. Continue to mix until the mixture is thick and can form a shape. Also, if the mixture seems sticky you can mix in a bit more sugar free powdered sugar until it is no longer sticky. As a result, I would not add more than an additional ยฝ up total.
    • Use a teaspoon or similar sized spoon or scoop to scoop out a small amount of mixture and form a small ball between your hands. The ball should be about ยพ=1" in diameter. Place the ball on to your prepped pan to form a patty. When all of the patties have been formed allow the patties to dry out at room temperature. It should take between 1 ยฝ- 2 hours, also flipping over midway, for your patties to be dry enough to move on with the recipe.
    • In addition ,when you are ready to coat your mint patties, simply melt the sugar free chocolate chips and coconut oil. I suggest using the stove method of doing this a the microwave method my cool too quickly for you to be able to evenly cover all of your patties. Use a simmering double boiler or or low heat melting in a saucepan.Just be sure to stir often to keep your melting chocolate even.
    • I suggest using a fork or similar sized utensil to raise each patty off of the baking sheet, dip into the chocolate, and replace on to the pan. Also, spoon in your other hand can help cover the patties evenly with chocolate. Likewise, if your first dipped patties seem a bit too soft, you can freeze them for twenty minutes and try again.
    • Finally, allow the patties to cool until set.
