What makes snickerdoodle bars so good?

    ย
Snickerdoodle bars are the dessert bars are perfectly cinnamony, buttery, and tangy, with the same deliciousness of a snickerdoodle cookie, in a soft, chewy, bar.

I like how wonderful these bars smell when they are baking in the oven!

Did you try my recipe for Sugar Free Snickerdoodle Cookies?

That cookie recipe is a sugar free version of the popular snickerdoodle cookie. Both recipes are tasty no added sugar alternatives for the classic snickerdoodle.

To make this recipe you will need Cream of Tartar. You can find cream of tartar here.

Ingredients needed to make Snickerdoodle Bars.

    • Flour. My bars were made using all purpose flour (AP). You can try an alternative that measures like AP flour.
    • Cream of Tartar. An essential ingredient to this recipe as it provides both leavening and a bit of acidity.
    • Sugar Alternative. Use a granular sugar alternative that measures like sugar and that can be baked with.
    • Brown Sugar Alternative. Use a brown sugar alternative that measures like brown sugar and that can also be baked with.
    • Butter. Your butter should be softened to room temperature for best results. While you could use a butter alternative, the butter flavor is really what is important to this recipe.
    • Egg. The egg is what holds the other ingredients as well as the moisture together.
    • Vanilla Extract. Really helps to balance out the other flavors.
    • For the topping you will need granular sugar alternative and ground cinnamon.

    How to make Snickerdoodle Bars.

    Prep Time: 10 minutes
    Cook Time: 30 minutes
    Yield: 24 bars.

    1. Preheat your oven to 325. Prep a baking pan or dish for nonstick. I use parchment paper for a recipe such as this one.
    2. In a medium bowl, use a whisk or a fork to mix together the flour with the cream of tartar.
    3. Next, in a mixing bowl, beat together the butter with the sugar alternatives until creamy. Then add the egg and the vanilla extract.
    4. Add the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the ingredients in the mixing bowl and mix until just combined. Evenly spread this in the prepared baking baking pan. Then sprinkle the remaining sugar alternative and cinnamon on top of the bars.
    5. Bake these bars for 25-30 minutes or until they begin to turn golden brown. While the toothpick test could work in this recipe, it is normal for the bars to be somewhat soft in the center .
    6. Allow the bars to fully cool before slicing to insure that you get a clean cut.

Tips for making the best Snickerdoodle dessert bars.

Before making your cookies, line your baking pan with parchment paper that overhangs the sides of the pan. This will make it easier for you to lift the cooled bars out for slicing later on.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. This is one of those recipes when it is essential that you have your dairy ingredients at room temperature for best results. The butter especially needs to be soft for better ingredient blending.
    2. Use the backside of a rubber spatula to press the mixed ingredients into the baking pan before adding the topping.
    3. These bars are soft on the inside. It is for that reason that it is a good idea to allow for them to fully cool before slicing.
    4. While not done in this recipe, you could make a glaze to drizzle over the bars. Simply combine one and a half tablespoon of any kind of milk with a cup of sugar free powdered sugar.
