What you need to make cinnamon apple cookies.
ย Cookie.
- Flour. All purpose flour works best in this recipe. Rolled oats can be substituted for part of the flour if desired.
- Baking Soda. Make sure that your baking soda is fresh for best results.
- Ground Cinnamon. This is for that tasty cinnamon flavor.
- Butter. The butter should be softened to room temperature.
- Brown Sugar Alternative. Please use one that measures like regular brown sugar and that can also be baked with.
- Egg. The egg should be at room temperature.
- Apple. The apple should be chopped or diced into pieces. It is best to use an apple with a nice flavor and that can hold up to baking such as Jonagold, Granny Smith , or Gala apples.
- Optional- salt can be added if you are using unsalted butter.
Glaze.ย
- Sugar Free Powdered Sugar.
- A liquid such as water, apple juice, or half and half.
- Ground cinnamon.
How to make Cinnamon Apple Cookies.
- Preheat your oven to 350 and prep a cookie sheet well for nonstick.
- In a medium bowl, use a whisk or a fork to combine together the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon. Set this bowl aside.
- Next, in a mixing bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar alternative until creamy. Then beat in the egg.
- Add the flour mixture from the first bowl to the mixing bowl and mix until just combined and then fold in the apple pieces.
- Use a teaspoon to drop the cookies on to the prepared baking sheets. Leave about an inch and a half to two inches between cookies as they will spread. Then bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until they begin to turn golden.
- To make the glaze, simple combine the ingredients, making adjustments as needed to get a good consistency for spreading. Then spread the glaze over the cookies while they are still warm.
Tips for making the best cookies with apples.
This recipe works best using more of a tart apple that can be baked with. Granny Smith, Pink Ladies, Jonathan, Fuji, and Gala apples are also good choices.

- My cookies were made using all purpose flour. Oatmeal can be substituted for part of the flour for a more chewy cookie.
- While these cookie are made using apples, there are other fruits that can work in this recipe. Pears are a good choice.
