What makes peach pie so good.
ย
Peach pie is good because it encompasses the rich flavor or freshly peaches baked to perfection with warm spices and a bit tartness, all encased in a tender, flaky crust.
I like that the only added sugar in this comes from the peaches.

How to make Homemade Peach Pie.
Crust.
The easiest way to make this crust is to use a food processor. Prep your pie plate or pan for nonstick as well (butter works great).
- Place the flour and sugar alternative into the food processor and give it a few pulses to mix.
- Pulse in five of the tablespoons of butter into the processor and until incorporated. Then scape down the bowl and add the remaining butter and continue to pulse.
- Transfer the dough to a clean surface and work it with your hands to form a ball. Add the cold water as needed.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate until you are ready to use it.
Pie.
- Prepare your pie crust as indicated by the instructions. Homemade crusts should be blind baked for ten minutes.
- Place all of the filling ingredients, (everything except for the crust), in a large bowl.
- Toss the filling ingredients until the peaches are well coated. Then allow the ingredients to sit for five minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350. Transfer the ingredients from the bowl to your prepared pie crust.
- If you are adding a lattice top to the top of your pie, simple roll out the pie crust and use a pasty roller to cut out small even strips of dough to weave through one another. You can use a pastry brush to brush an egg wash made with sugar free powdered sugar and egg on top of the lattice.
- Cover the edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil.
- Bake the pie in the center of your oven for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and continue to bake for 20-23 minute or until the pie shows some bubbling.
- Allow the pie to sit at room temperature for ten minutes before cutting.
Tips for making the best peach pie.
If you are using a homemade pie crust recipe it is a good idea to first blind bake the crust. Simply place a pie weight or dry beans on top of parchment paper that is placed over the crust and bake for about ten to 15 minutes at 350.
More helpful tips for you.
- Prepare the peaches by washing them and removing any bruises, stems, and pits. The skin can stay on if desired.
- Canned peaches (with no added sugar) can also be used. However, you must first drain the peaches before adding them.
- Double your crust recipe so that you can add a fancy lattice to the top of your pie using it.
- The best peaches for this recipe are the ones that are most ripe. Peaches are like bananas in that you can simply place them in a paper back to ripen faster.
