You may be wondering is almond flour healthier than regular flour.
Almond flour is friendly to the keto diet because it is simply ground up nuts (almonds).
This means that it is low in carbohydrate as well as a source for protein, fat, and flavor.
Almond flour is also gluten free.
Gluten is the protein found in all purpose flour that is responsible for the ability of the flour to bind with the other ingredients. Folks who react to the gluten, gluten intolerant, use almond flour as a replacement for the all purpose flour.
Here are some tips for making almond flour brownies.
Make sure that you are using a blanched almond flour rather than almond meal. This is for best results when it comes to the texture of the brownies.
More tips for you.
- Adding a teaspoon of espresso is one way to enhance the flavor of these brownies. There is something about espresso and chocolate that can really amp up the flavor in a recipe such as this one.
- Feel free to add some nut to the batter or topping of these brownies. Adding chopped nuts can give additional flavor and crunch to this recipe.
- This recipe does not use baking powder or baking soda. If you are wanting a brownie that is somewhat cake-like, feel free to add ½ to one teaspoon of Baking Powder.
How to store keto low carbohydrate brownies.
These brownies should be stored in an airtight container and if cut, stored with parchment paper separating the pieces. They should keep for a couple of days at room temperature if stored correctly or for up to six months in the freezer (defrost before serving).
