This recipe is for anyone asking what do beets do for you.
Beets can sometimes seem like the forgotten vegetable perhaps because of their color.
However, what you should know is that beets are pretty healthy for us.
Beets can be eaten raw, cooked, or even preserved like pickles.
This root vegetable is a lower in calorie and carbohydrate vegetable that is also a decent source of fiber.
Beets are also a source for protein (not so common for veggies), potassium, iron, and vitamin c.
People like to ask if air fryers good for chips.
I will say yes, air fryers are well...excellent for making chips.
Besides avoiding all of the fried oil stuff with an air fryer, you can get a great tasting snack chip thanks to the air fryer.
Air fryers can cook vegetable chips quickly thanks to their small size.
However, if you are making a lot of chips, you may want to make them in batches so that they turn out more crisp and less soggy. The trick is to cut the chips thin and to shake the basket to move the chips around every five minutes while cooking.
Here are some tips for air frying chips.
I just mentioned that to keep the chips from getting soggy, and this get a crisper chip, it is important to shake the basket around every five minutes while the chips are air frying. Also important, is that you should slice the chips thin rather than thick to promote even cooking.
I have a few more tips for you.
- You can easily slice your beet chips using a good knife. However, using a mandolin can give you a more uniform chip and make it easier to slice the chips too.
- Salt and pepper are popular seasonings to use with beet root chips. But, you could get some more flavor using an everything but the bagel seasoning or maybe even allspice.
- I like tossing my beet chips in a olive oil. However, you could use canola oil for less of an olive flavor or peanut oil or sunflower oil for more flavor.
How to prepare beetroots.
Peel the beets using a vegetable peeler and then slice them about 1/16" to ⅛" slices.
Then place the slices between two paper towels for five to ten minutes to allow for excess liquid to escape (which will help make it easier to get a crisp chip).
