    • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder. Dutch process could be used for a milder flavor. However, I suggest using basic unsweetened cocoa powder for best results.
    • Sugar Alternative. For best results, use a granular sugar alternative that measures and bakes like actual sugar.
    • Baking Powder. The leavening agent used to help make these muffins fluffy.
    • Milk . This is added for moisture. Use a full fat for the best moisture retention in these muffins.
    • Oil. I like a neutral oil such as canola or vegetable oil for this recipe.
    • Egg. Your egg should be at room temperature for optimal blending.
    • Sugar Free Chocolate Chips. Use chocolate chips that can be baked with as they should hold up better.
    • Optional Add-ins- chopped nuts, sugar free white chocolate baking chips, or even raisins.

    Expert Tip๐Ÿ‘‰ Your dairy ingredients (eggs, milk and yogurt)should be at room temperature. Room temperature ingredients will make for better blending of the ingredients.

    • Next, in another bowl, use a fork or a clean whisk to blend together the milk, yogurt, oil, egg and vanilla extract. Then pour this over the dry ingredients in the large mixing bowl and mix until just combined.
    • Use a rubber spatula to fold in the chocolate chips. Then use a cookie scoop to fill each of the muffin cups โ…”rds full.
    • Bake the muffins for 20-25 minutes, in the center of your oven, or until the muffins spring back when lightly touched. Lastly, allow the muffins to sit in the pan for ten minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to finish cooling.

    The Recipe for Sugar Free Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins

    I usually use sugar free chocolate chips to make these muffins. However, you could also use unsweetened chocolate which you have broken up. A granular sugar alternative is recommended as well.

    What you need to make this recipe.

    • Flour (AP)- 2 cups.
    • Sugar alternative- 1 cup equivalent to sugar. Granular is preferred.
    • Baking Powder- 2 teaspoons.
    • Baking Soda- 1 teaspoon.
    • Unsweetened Cocoa- ยฝ cup.
    • Vegetable Oil- ยฝ cup.
    • Milk- 1 ยผ cup.
    • Egg-1.
    • Vanilla Extract- 1 teaspoon.
    • Sugar Free Chocolate Chips-ยฝ cup for batter and then another ยผ cup to top muffins with.

    How to make this recipe.

    • Preheat your oven to 400 and prep your pans for nonstick.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine together the flour, sugar alternative, baking powder,baking soda, and unsweetened cocoa. Set this bowl aside.
    • Using another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, milk, vanilla extract, and egg.
    • Mix the contents of the second bowl of wet ingredients into the first mixing bowl of dry ingredients. Then gently blend in the chocolate chips.
    • Fill each muffin cup about โ…”rds and then top with additional chocolate chips.
    • Bake for 18-20 minutes.If using a toothpick to test for doneness, take into consideration that the melted chocolate chips may give you a false result.
    • Allow the muffins to cool for 10-15 minutes before removing muffins from the pan to allow the chips to set.
