Sugar Free Rainbow Fruit Popsicles are made with fresh fruit.
I am calling these popsicles 'sugar free' as there is no added sugar other than the natural sugar that comes with the fruit.
Sugar Free Rainbow Fruit Popsicles
This is a no added sugar frozen popsicle made with fresh fruit.
To add additional sweetness to this popsicle, there is an option to use honey or maple syrup.

There are also a few dessert ideas that do not include freezing.
Many of these recipes call for molds that are used to hold the ice cream or popsicles as they freeze into shape. You can find a great selection of ice cream bar molds here.
This recipe is for anyone asking are real fruit popsicles healthy.
You would think that anything that contains real fruit would be healthy for you to eat.
Fruit contains nutrients that we are told are beneficial as well as many antioxidant properties.
However, there are other ingredients that are often added to a recipe that may not be so healthy.
This recipe calls for fresh fruit and not fruit that has had any kind of processing.
There is no added sugar to this recipe as well unless you opt to add honey or maple syrup.
People ask what is in sugar free popsicles too.
A basic popsicle may have just water and flavorings that are frozen in a mold.
There may also be some sugar or sugar alternative too.
This recipe is for a frozen fruit pop.
Technically, the only sugar that is in this recipe comes from the fruit itself and any optional natural sweetener.
You can adjust the fruit that you use to alter the amount of natural sugar that is added from fruit.
Here are some tips for making fruit pops
This is a recipe that needs to be made in stages or steps. Each stage or step calls for blending a different frozen fruit which will then result in the layers.
Here are some more helpful tips.
The fruit that I have listed is only a suggestion. Feel free to adjust the amount of fruit added or substitute fruits to your likings.
- This recipe is made with fruit that you have frozen first. If you choose to purchase already frozen fruit, please make sure that there has been no added ingredients with that frozen fruit.
- Feel freeze to add your layers differently than I have or to omit a layer. Using alternative fruit, such as raspberries, is also something that you can do.
- The easiest way to make these frozen pops is to use popsicle molds. You can find a nice selection of frozen popsicle molds here.
How to store homemade frozen popsicles.
Once the popsicles have frozen to their molds, you can transfer them for longer storage.
I like using a plastic wrap to wrap each frozen pop individually. They should keep for up to a couple of months if frozen and wrapped.

The recipe for easy rainbow popsicles
This popsicle recipe calls for six layers of fruit.
You can omit or adjust the fruit as desired.
If you decide to adjust your fruit, keep in mind that this is a rainbow frozen popsicle.
That is, the layers progress in colors, from light to dark, just like a rainbow does.
Using a variety of fruit means that you can get a variety of colors in your rainbow frozen pop!
Rainbow popsicle ingredients
- Strawberries- 1 cup. Strawberries should have their stems removed, then be slices, and frozen.
- Pineapple- ½ cup in chunk and then frozen. Canned is okay, opt for no added sugar.
- Mandarin Oranges- ½ cup of peeled oranges that have been frozen.
- Kiwi- ½ cup that has been peeled, sliced, and then frozen.
- Grapes- 1 cup frozen. Opt for a red or dark grape.
- Blueberries- 1 cup that has been frozen.
- Optional- honey (½ cup), Maple Syrup (¼ cup), or sugar alternative of your choice. Amounts can be adjusted as needed.
How to make Rainbow Fruit Popsicles yourself.
- Since we are using frozen fruit, you do not have to freeze the pops between layers. However, if your fruit seems 'liquidy', I would suggest freezing as needed between layers to keep the colors separated.
- Each fruit is its own layer. The suggested layer path of colors or layers to follow is: strawberries for red, mandarin for orange, pineapple for yellow, kiwi for green, blueberries for blue and grapes for purple.
- For each individual layer, blend the fruit in a blender until slushy. You can add the honey or maple syrup to each individual layer when you blend it. Once you blend the individual layer, add it to the mold and place the mold in the freezer while you work on the next layer if needed.
- After the final layer has been added, insert popsicle sticks and place the cover over the molds. Freeze until hard or overnight.
