This recipe is for anyone asking how to make a margarita without sugar
I am someone who enjoys margaritas with or without fruit in it.
What I do not enjoy is when someone makes me a margarita with too much (usually waaaay toooo much...) sugar added to it.
This recipe for margaritas is really what it is thanks to the added fruit.
The raspberries add the flavor and the texture to this recipe for margaritas.
They also add a bit of their own natural sugar too!
You may be wondering what makes a skinny margarita skinny anyway.
To be honest, I do not believe that their is an actual 'standard definition' of, well really, anything that is called 'skinny'.
However, there is a 'skinny' definition that is assumed, at least by me.
'Skinny' can be defined as a lower in calorie and or lower in carbohydrate beverage or food.
The calories and carbohydrates are usually lowered in margaritas thanks to the omission of a syrup made with sugar.
Here are some tips for anyone asking how do you make a margarita from scratch.
This recipe calls for a raspberry infused carbonated water beverage. If you cannot find 'raspberry' feel free to use the carbonated water of your choice. I use LaCroix raspberry in my margaritas.
Here are some more tips for you.
- You can make this recipe in a blender. The consistency of your margarita depends on how long you blend it and at what speed.
- Adding more ice can stretch out this recipe and make it last longer. The ice can also make more servings and thus, even less sugar per serving.
- Salting the rim of the glass sure makes a margarita look prettier especially for photo taking. You can find margarita salters online that will make it easier and more accurate for your to do.
People ask is Triple Sec necessary for margaritas
No, there is no 'orange liqueur' or any liqueur in this recipe.
We are using real raspberries instead.

- Use frozen raspberries that have no added sugar for best results.
- If you are rimming your glasses with salt or sugar alternative, fill a small bowl with the sugar alternative or salt. Use a slice of lime to wet the rim of the glass. Dip the glass upside down into the sugar until the edge is toss, evenly. This recipe should make four average sized beverages.
- In a blender, combine together the raspberries, ice cubes, and lime juice. Blend until the berries have been broken down or until you reach a desired consistency. Then transfer the mixture evenly to your glasses.
- Next, in a pitcher, mix together the carbonated beverage and the margarita mix. Then pour this over the blended raspberries in each glass. If you are making the boozy option, you can add your tequila in this step.
