This recipe calls for sugar free almond butter. I have a recipe for sugar free almond butter which you can use or you can purchase your own almond butter.
This recipe also calls for almond meal.
Almond meal is made from ground up raw almonds that still have their skins. Please note that almond flour on the other hand, is made from ground up blanched almonds and is a different product in texture as well.

Ingredients needed to make this recipe for Vegan Chocolate Balls or Bites.
What you will need to make this
- Coconut Flakes- 1 cup. Shredded or flaked. This should be divided.
- Almond Meal- 1 cup.
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder- 2 tablespoons. Feel free to use a protein powder instead!
- Almond Butter- ½ cup.
- Maple Syrup- ½ cup. Can sub in agave, honey, or a low carb maple syrup alternative . Note that you may need to make ingredient adjustments when using alternatives.
- Chia Seeds- 1 tablespoon, activated. Alternatives include flax seeds or even sunflower seeds.
- Optional- you can top these with this sugar free ganache drizzeled on top.
How to make Sugar Free Vegan Chocolate Bites
- Prepare a cookie or baking sheet with parchment paper .
- In a medium mixing bowl, use a fork or whisk to mix together the coconut, almond meal and the cocoa powder.
- Next, in another bowl, blend together the almond butter, syrup, and chia seeds until blended.
- Stir the ingredients from the first bowl (coconut, almond meal, and cocoa powder) into the ingredients in the second bowl (almond butter, syrup and chia)
- Using a scoop or tablespoon, scoop mixture from the bowl and then shape the mix into balls- about 1- 1 ½". Then roll the balls in the remaining coconut and place on the prepared baking sheet. Cover and return this to the refrigerator or freeze to firm up. Store these balls individually wrapped or covered well with wax paper or parchment paper separating the layers if layered.
- Store these chocolate bites in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or keep in the freezer for 4 months.
