Yes, like with potatoes, some apples are better for baking with while others are better for eating just as they are. Apples that you can bake with are usually crisp enough to stand up to the heat from baking.

This recipe can also be made in an oven. Simply place the apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and with a wire rack. Bake in the oven at 250 for an hour, flip the apples and bake for another hour and a half. Turn the oven off and allow the apple crisps to get crips in the oven for another half hour before taking them out.

- This recipe works best when the apples are sliced as thin as possible (⅛-1/10" if possible). Apples sliced over ¼" will have a tough time getting crisp and could result in more of a baked apple dessert instead.

How to make air fried cinnamon apple chips
- Prepare your apples by slicing them as thin as possible. Then transfer the apples to a baking sheet or flat surface covered with parchment paper while you work.
- In a small bowl, use a fork or a whisk to blend together the cinnamon and sugar alternative.
- Lightly spray the apples with the oil spray and then sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar on top. Then flip the apple slices over and repeat. Alternatively, you can place the apples in a zip top bag along with the cinnamon and sugar alternative and toss.
- To air fry the apple slices, place the apple slices in air fryer basket I try to keep the slices from overlapping so that they can air fry more evenly when I use my multipurpose air fryer. You may need to make your apple chips in batches if you do this too.
- Air fry your apple slices at 300 for twenty minutes, shaking the basket every five minutes or as needed. To get the apple sliced more crisp increase the temperature to 325 and air fry for an additional two minutes.
- Remove the apple chips from the air fryer and allow the chips to cool.
