This recipe calls for a sugar free granular brown sugar alternative.
To make this recipe keto low carb friendly, you can use a low carb all purpose flour such as carbalose. To make this gluten free, use a gluten free all purpose flour.
Ingredients needed to make Sugar Free Brown Butter Blondies.
- Butter- 11 tablespoons, unsalted works best. That is one stick plus three tablespoons of butter.
- All Purpose Flour- 1 cup.
To make this recipe keto low carb friendly, you can use a low carb all purpose flour such as carbalose. To make this gluten free, use a gluten free all purpose flour. - Salt- ¼ teaspoon (can omit if you are using salted butter).
- Granular Brown Sugar Alternative- ¾ of a cup. Please us an alternative that measures 1:1 with regular brown sugar.
- Egg- 1. This egg should be at room temperature.
- Vanilla Extract- 2 teaspoons.
- Sugar Free Chocolate Chips- ⅔ cup. Use the keto, low carb, gluten free variety if needed.
- Flaky Sea Salt- ½ teaspoon. Kosher salt works as well.
How to make Sugar Free Brown Butter Blondies
- Preheat the oven to 350F and prep a square baking pan for nonstick. I suggest using two pieces of parchment paper that overlap the edges of an 8 by 8-inch pan for easier transferring and clean up.
- Brown the butter as described above. Use a heavy sauce pan for best results set on medium heat. Cook until the butter starts to foam and turns a deep golden color with a nutty aroma- approximately another 5 minutes after the butter is melted). Then allow the butter to cool at room temperature.
- Meanwhile, while the butter is cooling, place the flour, salt and brown sugar alternative in a mixing bowl.
- Stir in the the cooled brown butter, egg and vanilla until just mixed. Next, fold in the chocolate chips and then transfer the batter prepped prepared square pan and smooth out the top. Sprinkle the flaky sea salt on top.
- Bake until golden, about 20 to 25 minutes or until the edges begin to brown, being careful not to over-bake.
- Cool completely before cutting.
