Did you try my Sugar Free No Bake Peanut Butter Cookies ?
That peanut butter cookie is based upon an old fashion boiled cookie recipe. Like with this recipe, that recipe also has no added sugar in it.
To make this recipe you will need sugar free peanut butter. You can find a variety of sugar free peanut butter here.
The crisscross design that is seen on top of many peanut butter cookies helps to remind us that they are indeed peanut butter cookies.
Some folks add the crisscross design to help the cookies bake more evenly as well. Adding the crisscross may also help the center of the cookie keep its shape while baking especially when you use a levening agent (not used in this recipe however).
This is a recipe that is also dependent upon the peanut butter for its success. As a result, I like to keep the ingredients, such as peanut butter, as simple as possible.
For a better cookie, use a peanut butter that has no added sugar or other ingredients. Also, smooth peanut butter works better than crunchy in a recipe such as this one.
Here are some tips for making peanut butter cookies with no added sugar.
Peanut butter is used in this recipe for flavor and for moisture. However, you really could use about any kind of nut butter as long as there is no added sugar.
- Make a cookie that is more crunchy. Simple remove a tablespoon or two of the peanut butter.
- The crisscross that is made on top of the cookie helps to flatten the cookie and tell the world that it is a peanut butter cookie. However, this is something that does not have to be done and can be omitted if you desire.
- Using a granular sugar alternative that measurers 1:1 with sugar is essential to the success of this cookie. Feel free to sprinkle a bit of extra granular sugar alternative on top of the cookies to make.
How to store leftover peanut butter cookies.
These cookies should be stored in an airtight container. If properly stored, they should keep for about a week. I have not tried this but, you can try freezing these cookies.

How to make Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and prep your cookie sheet(s) for nonstick. I like to use parchment paper for a recipe such as this one.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine together the peanut butter, sugar alternative and egg. Mix these ingredients until just combined. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of cookie dough on to the prepped baking sheet. Leave at least ½" between cookie edges for spreading.
- Bake your cookies for 12-15 minutes or until they appear set. Do not over-bake. These cookies are better when not burnt. Allow the cookies to sit on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a cookie rack.
Expert Tip 👉 Use a fork to make the optional crisscross design on top of the cookies before placing the cookies into the oven. Spraying the fork with a bit of nonstick can help keep the ingredients from sticking to the fork.
