Frequently Asked Questions about Crescent Rolls
Crescent rolls are rolls made out of individual triangular shaped pieces of dough that are then rolled up and baked. Crescent rolls are a popular choice especially during the holiday season when served as a side with butter.
The ingredients used to make crescent roll dough is usually a basic flour, leavener, and fat dough. It is the shape of the dough that really may make it stand out as a roll.
Obviously, you can make rolls with the dough. The rolls can be served as breakfast with a bit of jam or butter or they can be served on the side with a meal.
However, store bought crescent roll dough is a popular purchase idea for making other recipes such as these:
๐ขWrapped Around Hot Dogs.
๐กStuffed as a whole with pizza ingredients or cheese and baked.
๐ Or, as used in this recipe, layered with jam to make a great tasting breakfast.
Tips for making crescent roll muffins.
Unroll your crescent roll dough out on a sheet of parchment paper to prevent sticking. Another option is to lightly dust a clean surface with sugar free powdered sugar..
More helpful tips for you.
- When prepping your muffin pan, it may be a good idea to spray the pan itself in addition to the cup. This is in case the jam spills out while baking.
- While I am using sugar free jam to make my muffins you can use something else. Sugar free chocolate chips or erythritol mixed with ground cinnamon (like a cinnamon 'sugar') are other options.
- This is one of those sugar free recipes that is not keto low carb. However, if you use a keto low carb baking mix to make a dough that you can roll out, you can try to make these muffins lower in carbohydrates (have not tried this as of yet...).
How to store crescent roll muffins.
Personally, I think that there muffins are best when served warm when the ingredients are at their peak consistency. However, leftovers should be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated (for up to a few days). Microwaving the muffins for about a half minute can help if needed. ๐

How to make Sugar Free Cream Cheese Crescent Roll Muffins.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 16 minutes
Servings: 6 muffins
- Preheat your oven to 375 and prep a standard muffin pan for nonstick.
- Unroll your first tube of rolls on a sheet or parchment paper or a clean surface, taking care to not seperate the rolls via the perforated lines.
- Use a butter knife or frosting spatula to evenly spread out the softened cream cheese over the dough to about a half inch of the edges. Do not go to or beyond the edges.
- Next, evenly spread out the jam over the cream cheese.
- Open the second tube of crescent dough and lay it flat on the first roll of dough, covering the cream cheese and jam.
- Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough lengthwise into six strips. Then carefully roll the strips loosely (about 2" on the first roll) before placing them into each of the muffin cups.
- Bake the muffins for 14-16 minutes or when they begin to turn golden brown.
- Serve with a dusting of sugar free powdered sugar if desired.
Expert Tip ๐ While coiling up the dough to place inside the muffin tin, it is okay for some of the jam may spill out. These are an ooey-gooey treat that can get mildly messy upon preparing.๐
