Pina Colada Popsicles No Added Sugar

This is a tasty frozen treat that is perfect on a warm day.

This recipe can be enjoyed boozy or not boozy, depending on your mood and tastes.

Have you tried my recipe for 3 Ingredient Sugar Free Frozen Fudge Pops?

That is a really easy frozen treat recipe that is based upon using pudding.
This recipe is really more about the pineapple and the coconut flavoring.

This recipe for frozen popsicle bars calls for molds that are used to hold the dessert as it freezes into shape. You can find a great selection of ice cream bar molds here.

You may be wondering will a Pina Colada freeze.

Let me start by saying that this is not a frozen alcoholic beverage.
This recipe for popsicles is meant to be flavored to remind us of that alcoholic beverage.

On the question of freezing an alcoholic Pina Colada beverage, that all depends.

Adding a lot of alcohol can prevent a beverage or popsicle from getting frozen to a fully solid state.
However, adding a small amount, which is optional in this recipe, of rum can get the popsicle to a state that is solid enough to enjoy as a frozen treat.

This recipe is for anyone asking what flavor is a Pina Colada.

I suspect that if you were to go into a bar or restaurant that offers a Pina Colada, you will probably get some sort of a mix along with a bit or rum . That mix will most likely have coconut and pineapple flavorings a long with a bunch of sugar in it.

This recipe for popsicles is a bit more recognizable in ingredients.

There are only four ingredients in these popsicles (three if you go without the alcohol).
We are using real pineapple and coconut in this recipe.

Here are some tips for making pineapple coconut popsicles .

White rum is the preferred to other kinds of rum in this recipe.
You can make this recipe even more exciting by soaking your pineapple in the rum before making this recipe.

Here are some more tips for you.

    1. Yes, this is a 'Pina Colada' flavored treat. However, you can change up the flavor of these popsicles be replacing, or subbing in for part of the pineapple, berries, mango, or kiwi fruit.
    2. Be sure to use coconut cream that is unsweetened rather than sweetened coconut cream or coconut milk. Coconut cream gives the texture and flavor to the popsicles .
    3. If you are a fan of the coconut lime verbena or whatever, you may want to try this. Replace one tablespoon of the coconut cream with lime juice to add the lime flavoring..

People do ask, how do you put alcohol in a popsicle?

Alcohol, specifically rum, can be added to this recipe but, in moderation.
This is because adding too much rum can make this into a slushy beverage rather than a frozen popsicle as the alcohol will hinder the freezing process.

Pina Colada Popsicles No Added Sugar

The recipe for vegan pinna colada popsicle.

This is a simple recipe that is really more about the enjoyment than it is about making it.
If you have a simple blender or food processor, you can easily make this recipe.

These popsicles can be stored and enjoyed later.

Simply remove the popsicles from their mold.
Then wrap them individually in plastic wrap and freeze for up to three months.

    Pina colada popsicle ingredients

    • Pineapple- 1 ½ cups of cubed pineapple that has had the skin removed.
    • Coconut Cream that is unsweetened - 1 cup.
    • Granulated Monk Fruit- ¼ cup. You can use an alternative granular sugar alternative however, if desired. Also, feel free to adjust the amount of sweetened you add depending on the sweetness of the pineapple.
    • White Rum- 2 tablespoons. Feel free to sun in coconut cream to make this a non-boozy recipe.

How to make these Pina colada freeze pops.

    • Remove the skin from the pineapple and cut it into chunks. You can soak the pineapple with the rum for a half hour if desired or add them separately to this recipe.
    • Place the pineapple into a blender or food processor along with the other ingredients. Then process or blend until the mixture is blended and smooth.
    • Transfer the ingredients to the popsicle molds and freeze until hard- about four hours.
    • Remove the popsicles as indicated in the instructions that came with your popsicle mold.
