You may be wondering will a Pina Colada freeze.
Let me start by saying that this is not a frozen alcoholic beverage.
This recipe for popsicles is meant to be flavored to remind us of that alcoholic beverage.
On the question of freezing an alcoholic Pina Colada beverage, that all depends.
Adding a lot of alcohol can prevent a beverage or popsicle from getting frozen to a fully solid state.
However, adding a small amount, which is optional in this recipe, of rum can get the popsicle to a state that is solid enough to enjoy as a frozen treat.
This recipe is for anyone asking what flavor is a Pina Colada.
I suspect that if you were to go into a bar or restaurant that offers a Pina Colada, you will probably get some sort of a mix along with a bit or rum . That mix will most likely have coconut and pineapple flavorings a long with a bunch of sugar in it.
This recipe for popsicles is a bit more recognizable in ingredients.
There are only four ingredients in these popsicles (three if you go without the alcohol).
We are using real pineapple and coconut in this recipe.
Here are some tips for making pineapple coconut popsicles .
White rum is the preferred to other kinds of rum in this recipe.
You can make this recipe even more exciting by soaking your pineapple in the rum before making this recipe.
Here are some more tips for you.
- Yes, this is a 'Pina Colada' flavored treat. However, you can change up the flavor of these popsicles be replacing, or subbing in for part of the pineapple, berries, mango, or kiwi fruit.
- Be sure to use coconut cream that is unsweetened rather than sweetened coconut cream or coconut milk. Coconut cream gives the texture and flavor to the popsicles .
- If you are a fan of the coconut lime verbena or whatever, you may want to try this. Replace one tablespoon of the coconut cream with lime juice to add the lime flavoring..
People do ask, how do you put alcohol in a popsicle?
Alcohol, specifically rum, can be added to this recipe but, in moderation.
This is because adding too much rum can make this into a slushy beverage rather than a frozen popsicle as the alcohol will hinder the freezing process.
