There is a bit of banana prep that includes knowing how to freeze bananas.
I once made the mistake of freezing bananas still in their peel. Freezing bananas in their peel results in a really difficult task of having to peel the frozen banana before you can add it to a recipe or eat it.
Here is how to prepare your bananas for use in this ice cream recipe.
First off, a firm banana will be easier to slice so use more firm, yet ripe, banana.
Slice the banana into 1 to 1 ½ inch slices and then place the bananas in a freezer safe storage container and allow them to freeze for at least 2 ½ hours.

- This recipe for ice cream can be made in a food processor. However, I am a huge fan of my Vitamix Blender and like to use that instead.
- If the blended bananas seem to thick for your liking, feel free to add a few ice cubes or a bit of milk or vegan milk to thin out the texture.
- Even thought this recipe for ice cream is good just the way it is, you can certainly amp up your ice cream with an extra ingredient or two. I am referring to sugar free chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or even some (chopped up most likely) sugar free candy!

To do so simply omit everything but the bananas. Follow the steps for freezing and processing the bananas to make this (the texture will be a bit different and it may take some more work to get your desired texture).

Hi there - wondering if you or any of your followers have tried powdered peanut butter in the recipe and how that worked. I would add water and make it peanut butter consistency before adding. Thanks!
