    • Cream Cheese. Use a full fat bar or block of cream cheese that has been softened to room temperature.
    • Sugar Free Powdered Sugar. Feel free to use an alternative such as honey (to taste).
    • Strawberries. Use fresh strawberries that are sliced and have had the stems removed. Frozen strawberries can bring additional moisture as well as ingredients such as sugar.
    • Vanilla Extract. Added as a flavor balance.
    • Sour Cream. This is optional to thin the spread out to make a dip. Plain yogurt can alternatively be used.

    Tips for making the best cream cheese spread.

    Sour cream can be added to this recipe to help make it more spreadable. You can however, omit the sour cream or use an alternative such as plain yogurt.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Mash or puree your strawberries with the cream cheese for a smoother consistency and for color.
    2. Feel free to use another berry with or instead of the strawberries in this recipe. Blueberries or raspberries could also taste great.
    3. It is recommended that you use a full fat block cream cheese in this recipe as an alternative get make the spread too thin. If your spread has consistency that is too thin, try mixing in a (really) small amount of cornstarch or extra cream cheese.
    4. Your cream cheese should be soft before making this recipe. This will help the ingredients blend more evenly together to make the spread.

    Leftover spread should be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated.
    If properly stored, this cream cheese spread should keep for about a week.
    I would not freeze it however.
