What makes cheese crisps so good?

Cheese crisps are a simple and crunchy snack idea that is full of flavor and is also low in carbohydrates.

I like that these crisps can be eaten as a snack or used as a topping on a salad or something else.

Have you tried my Easy Low Carb Cheese Bombs?

Those cheese bombs are low carbohydrate biscuits stuffed with cheese. These cheese crisps could easily be served with those cheese bombs.

My cheese crisps were made with sun dried tomatoes. You can find sun dried tomatoes here.

Ingredients needed to make Crispy Baked Cheese Chips

    • Cheese. The cheese should be a hard or semi hard cheese that has been shredded. Total cheese should be about two cups.
    • Seasonings. One to two teaspoons total. Most cheese is pretty salty so you can probably skip the salt and stick to the other varieties of seasonings (such as taco, Italian, or garlic seasonings).
    • Other add-ons. My crisps were made with chopped sundried tomatoes for example.

How to make Crispy Baked Cheese Chips.

Prep Time active time 10 minutes | baking time 5 minutes
     Yields 25 chips

    1. Preheat your oven to 375. Prep two rimmed baking sheets well for nonstick. I like to use foil or parchment paper that is also sprayed with nonstick for example ( a silicon mat as well).
    2. Place the cheese in a medium sized bowl. If you are using more than one kind of cheese, gently mix or toss them together in a bowl.
    3. Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl and toss the ingredients.
    4. Use a tablespoon or scoop to distribute the the mixture to the baking sheets, leaving space between each scoop. The cheese should be about two layers tall at most.
    5. Bake the crisps for five to eight minutes or until the edges turn golden brown. The center may be bubbly at this point but, they should harden fully when cooled to room temperature.
    6. Allow the crisps to fully cool before removing them from the pan.

Tips for making the best cheese crisps.

Hard or semi hard cheese works best in this recipe as they are able to get crisp successfully due to their moisture and they can also add a lot of flavor. I like cheeses such as Parmesan, Swiss, Asiago, and cheddar in this recipe.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Your cheese should be shredded for this recipe. It should also be fresh cheese rather than a 'cheese product'.
    2. For best results, your piles of cheese should be about two inches wide and about an inch away from one another. Also, keep in mind the baking time can vary depending on the kind of cheese you are using.
    3. While the cheese crisps will turn brown from baking in the oven, they will still need to set when you take them out. Simple allow the crisps to stay on the pan for about ten minutes after taking them out of the oven.
    4. These cheese crisps can also be used to accent other recipes. Crumble some on top of your salad or mix them with your popcorn for extra flavor.

How to store crispy cheese snacks.

I like to store my crispy cheese in an air tight zip top bag at room temperature where they usually stay fresh for about a week. However, you can also freeze them for longer.
