We all know how hard it can be to give up favorite foods such as pizza when you go on a diet. Carbohydrate counters also know that the average pizza can be loaded with carbs thanks to the crust.
This recipe for low carb pizza however, does not have all of the carbs that comes with a regular pizza.
This is because we are making a low carbohydrate crust instead of the usual high carbohydrate crust that comes with the average pizza. Therefore, yes, you can eat a pizza, this one, on a low carb diet!

Flavor is essential and luckily, you can create flavor with ingredients and seasonings that works together. Baking your pizza properly is just as essential as it has an effect on both the crust and the ingredients on top of the crust.
Here are some tips for making homemade pizza.
I just mentioned that ingredients are really what makes for a good tasting pizza. This means using toppings and seasonings that work together to create the perfect flavor.
Here are some more helpful tips.
- Yes, you can get away with making your pizza on a simple baking sheet. However, sometimes when I want a more crisp crust, I prepare my pizza on parchment paper and then transfer the pizza on the sheet to the oven for baking. The parchment paper makes it so easy to transfer the pizza in and out of the oven and then cut into pieces on.
- Pizza or tomato sauce does come with carbohydrates. You can skip the sauce, use only a little bit of sauce, or use a lower in carbohydrate pizza sauce for your pizza. I also have an easy sauce recipe just below these tips.
- The keto low carb dough can be tricky to work with. I find that using a bit of oil or nonstick on my hands helps me control the dough. You can also refrigerate it for a few minutes.

Ingredients needed to make a keto low carb pizza.
- Mozzarella Cheese- 1 ½ cups, shredded. Use full fat cheese for best results.
- Cream Cheese- 2 ounces. That is about four tablespoons. Use full fat cream cheese that is at room temperature.
- Eggs- 2 large.
- Coconut Flour- ⅓ cup. To sub in another flour, you may need more of that other flour since coconut flour is not a 1:1 measure. As a result, you may need to adjust other ingredients. I would try using ⅓ cup of almond flour if you decide to do this and adding a tablespoon of sour cream as needed.
- Seasonings as desired. This can include Italian Seasonings, Salt, and/or Pepper.
- Optional sauce- see recipe above.
- Toppings as desired. Pepperoni, sausage, onions, garlic, olives, etc.
How to make Keto Low Carb Pizza.
- Prepare the optional sauce and set it aside while you work.
- Preheat the oven to 425 and prep a baking sheet with parchment paper. If you are not using a baking sheet, simply set out a large sheet of parchment paper to prepare the pizza on. This is a good recipe to bake on a lower rack in the oven so that the crust can evenly bake.
- In a medium microwave safe bowl, microwave the mozzarella cheese and the cream cheese for 90 seconds (or until melted), stopping every 30 seconds to stir. When the ingredients have melted remove the bowl from the microwave and allow the ingredients to cool for a few minutes.
- Next, stir in the eggs and the flour. When you are able to, use your hands to to help mix the dough. This dough is not like a normal dough to work with as it has a wetter consistency. I have a couple of tips shared above that can help if needed. Allow the dough to sit for a few minutes so that the cheese absorbs the coconut flour.
- Next, transfer the dough to the prepped baking sheet or parchment paper. Using a spoon, spread the mixture out into a round or rectangle shape until it’s about ¼” thick.
Use a fork to poke holes into the dough to allow for the dough to rise properly during the baking process (we are not using a leavener). Bake the pizza crust for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown. - Remove the crust from the oven and top with the optional sauce, additional cheese, and other desired toppings. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 6-8 minutes until the cheese is melted. Allow to set for a few minutes then slice and serve.
