I like how versatile this bread is as it can be enjoyed about any time of the day.

Did you try my recipe for Sugar Free Banana Bread Pound Cake?

That is a bundt style cake made with bananas. Both this recipe for bread and that recipe for cake are delicious ideas for baked goods made with bananas and without added sugar.

To make this recipe you will need a loaf or bread pan. You can find a selection of bread pans here.

Frequently asked questions about banana breads.

What do bananas do in baking?

Bananas are added to baked good for many reasons.
The obvious reason would be for the delicious flavor of a banana.

Here are great reasons to add bananas to your baked goods.

Bananas can enhance the texture of baked goods.
As a substitute ingredient, bananas can be used in place of eggs or oil.
Lastly, bananas add natural sugar to a recipe, making them a nice addition to recipes made with no or low added sugar.

How do you add bananas to baked goods?

For best results, use bananas that are soft and ripe.
This will make it easier for them to blend in with the other ingredients.

Before adding the bananas to your mixing bowl, remove the skin and mash them up. You can use a simple potato masher to mash your bananas.

Tips for making sugar free banana bread with berries.

My bread was made with blackberries. You can use any similar berry of your choice or even a combination of berries.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. When adding the berries to the mixing bowl, gently fold them in rather than stirring them. Blackberries tend to be fragile and as a result, can spread too much when they are overmixed.
    2. Make sure that you are using a very ripe banana for this recipe. Using a banana that is soft, will make it easier the blend the ingredients more successfully.
    3. When baking your bread check on it frequently while it is baking. Pulling the banana bread out of the oven too soon can cause the center to be soft or gooey as the bananas need to fully bake.

How to store leftover banana bread.

This bread should be stored in an airtight container. If properly stored, it should keep for about three days at room temperature and up to three months when frozen.

This tasty bread can be served about any time of the day.

    • Lunch as a sandwich with a bit of peanut butter in the center.
    • As a snack or dessert with glaze on top and a cup of tea on the side.

Ingredients needed to make Sugar Free Banana Berry Bread

    • Flour. All purpose flour. I have no tried using a flour alternative in this bread recipe.
    • Baking Powder. You can omit this if you are using self-rising flour.
    • Sugar Alternative. Select a granular sugar alternative that measures like regular sugar and that can be baked with, for best results.
    • Bananas. Your bananas should be mashed for this recipe (which is why the bananas should be really ripe).
    • Milk. A full fat milk will help to make this bread more moist.
    • Oil. Use a neutral oil like vegetable oil.
    • Eggs. Your eggs should be at room temperature for this recipe.
    • Vanilla Extract.
    • Berries. My bread was made using fresh blackberries. Frozen berries can be used without first thawing them.

Expert Tip ๐Ÿ‘‰ You can use a self rising flour to make this recipe. Simply omit the baking powder and use the same amount of self rising flour (two cups).
