Questions often asked about chocolate fudge.
Fudge is technically considered to be a confection as it is commonly and traditionally made with ingredients such as sugar, dairy products (cream, butter, etc.) and chocolate using a stove top method. This traditional fudge recipe is over a hundred years old.
These days there are many variations on the traditional recipe for fudge, including this recipe made with no added sugar. However, in the end, fudge is a dense confection that can be chocolate flavored and is often enjoyed in individual square shaped servings.
The biggest secret to making good fudge is to use fresh ingredients and following the recipe as stated. If the fudge is made using a process of heating the ingredients, the correct temperature should be used in order to make sure that the ingredients are best blended together.
Most folks can agree that the perfect fudge is smooth, creamy, and dense along with the perfect flavor. While much of this may seem subjective opinion, most folks can agree that fudge should be thick and rich.
Making the perfect fudge involves using the right ingredients, the proper methods for making it, and storing the fudge correctly. The perfect fudge should melt in your mouth while you are enjoying the flavor.

While this is a dark chocolate fudge recipe, semi-sweet chocolate is also used in order to get a more 'fudge-like' texture. Feel free to swap out a quarter cup of the semi-sweet chips for additional dark chocolate chips if you want a more dark chocolate fudge.
