What makes Blizzard Dessert so good?
ย Blizzard desserts have a texture that is smooth, creamy, and airy (not quite ice cream and not quite a shake), and are easily customizable with add-ins such as nuts, candy, or fruit.
ย I like that this cold dessert is especially perfect when served on a warm day!

What you need to make a copycat blizzard.
There are two options for making this recipe. One uses ice cream and the other uses pudding mix.
Ingredients needed to make option one- Ice Cream.
- Keto Sugar or Free Ice Cream- 3 cups.
- Vanilla Extract- 1 teaspoon.
- Unsweetened Almond Milk- โ cup (can use another keto friendly milk).
- Add-ins - ยผ-1/3 cup. I have used Atkins Candies (2 packages) in mine.
Ingredients needed to make option two- pudding mix.
- Heavy Whipping Cream (or whipped topping with no added sugar)- 2 cups.
- White Chocolate Sugar Free Pudding Mix- 1 (four serving) package.
- Vanilla Extract- 1 teaspoon.
- Add-ins - ยผ- โ cup. I have used Atkins Candies (2 packages) in mine.
Here are some add-in ideas that you can use in either option.
- Atkins Chocolate Candies- 2 packets (basically a copycat M&M).
- Keto/Sugar Free Sandwich Cookies- 5-6.
- Sugar Free Keto Edible Cookie Dough- 1-2 scoops or as desired.
- No added sugar peanut butter - 1-2 tablespoons.
How to make a copycat Blizzard
- Option one- place the ice cream in the blender along with the vanilla extract. Pulse the blender a few times to get the blending started. Add the almond milk as needed for texture and the add-ins and continue to pulse until your reach your perfect consistency.
- Option two- Start by crushing the candies into chunks. In a mixer or immersion blender, beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks begin to form. Then add the pudding mix and beat until combined. Fold the crushed candy into the blended mixture and then place it into the freezer until thickened (5 to 10 minutes).
- Serve with additional add-ins on top.
- To crush place the candies into a zip top bag (or two) and used a rolling pin to cruch the candies into a good size.
Tips for making the best copycat blizzard.
If you are following the ice cream version of this recipe, I suggest that you use a regular blender to make this. Also, using the 'pulse' setting on the blender will help you get that treat to the desired texture rather than just blending.
More helpful tips for you.
- Adding a teaspoon (or so) of unsweetened cocoa powder, is a way to make this a chocolate treat.
- Place your treat into the freezer for 10 minutes, Then use it to make the inside of a cookie sandwich treat!
- To make the copycat Blizzard thicker like ice cream, use the ice cream method of making this recipe. However, to make this recipe more like a milkshake, the whipping cream method is a good choice.

How to store leftover Blizzard.
This recipe is best when served fresh. In the event that you have leftovers, you can store it in a covered container in the freezer.
Simply let it sit out for about 10 minutes to get it back to a good consistency.
