I am thrilled that there is a way to enjoy this frozen treat without adding a bunch of sugar to it!

This is a copycat version of that famous almost frozen treat.
However, this version comes without all of that added sugar!

Did you try my Sugar Free Keto Edible Cookie Dough recipe?

That is another tasty sugar free and keto diet friendly (and egg free) version of a popular treat.
I am thinking that adding some of that edible cookie dough to this recipe could be a yummy idea!

To make the "M&M" copycat version of this recipe, you will need a keto sugar candy. You can find Atkins copycat Chocolate Candies here.

What exactly is a 'Blizzard' and what is the difference between ice cream and a Blizzard?

I use to think of a Blizzard as a piece of almost frozen heaven.
It was all about that near frozen 'ice cream' and the goodies that got blended into it.

But, a real Blizzard is not just ice cream.
Ice cream is just one of the ingredients added to the beverage.
And, that ice cream is a soft ice cream rather than the kind that you or I could buy at the store.

So now you are probably wondering what are the ingredients in a blizzard.

I just mentioned that soft ice cream is the main ingredient.
Also there are the ingredients that have been added according to the flavor that has been ordered (M&M, brownie, etc).

What you may not know is that there are many other ingredients added (many that you may not even be able to pronounce).

Those ingredients may be added to keep the consistency of the treat between an ice cream and a shake.
Also, you can bet that there has been plenty of sugar added to the treat too!

Here are some tips for making a copycat version of this popular treat.

If you are following the ice cream version of this recipe, I suggest that you use a regular blender to make this. Also, using the 'pulse' setting on the blender will help you get that treat to the desired texture rather than just blending.

More helpful tips for you.

  1. Adding a teaspoon (or so) of unsweetened cocoa powder, is a way to make this a chocolate treat.
  2. Place your treat into the freezer for 10 minutes, Then use it to make the inside of a cookie sandwich treat!
  3. To make the copycat Blizzard thicker like ice cream, use the ice cream method of making this recipe. However, to make this recipe more like a milkshake, the whipping cream method is a good choice.

How to store leftover Blizzard.

In the event that you have leftovers, you can store it in a covered container in the freezer.
Simply let it sit out for about 10 minutes to get it back to a good consistency.

About this keto sugar free beverage recipe.

This recipe is for a sugar free and keto low carb diet friendly copycat version of the popular Blizzard treat. I will provide you with two options for making this recipe.

  • Keto/Sugar Free Sandwich Cookies- 5-6.
  • Sugar Free Keto Edible Cookie Dough- 1-2 scoops or as desired.
  • No added sugar peanut butter - 1-2 tablespoons.

Ingredients needed to make option one.

  • Keto Sugar Free Ice Cream- 3 cups.

How to make this Sugar Free Keto Blizzard Recipe

  • Option one- place the ice cream in the blender along with the vanilla extract. Pulse the blender a few times to get the blending started. Add the almond milk as needed for texture and the add-ins and continue to pulse until your reach your perfect consistency.
  • Option two- Start by crushing the candies into chunks. In a mixer or immersion blender, beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks begin to form. Then add the pudding mix and beat until combined. Fold the crushed candy into the blended mixture and then place it into the freezer until thickened (5 to 10 minutes).
  • Serve with additional add-ins on top.
  • To crush place the candies into a zip top bag (or two) and used a rolling pin to cruch the candies into a good size.
